Tough slate for Slade (scout.com)

Yep. Teams that can throw and catch will light up the UT defense this year, particularly in the early going (Cal and UF). Hopefully, the LBs will be able to help out on the short field, especially in the red zone, and the Vols can force a lot of field goal attempts.

Yeah.....Florida, Cal, and Vandy will have great secondaries. This article could be a description of their secondaries as well.

Yes, but those teams are not replacing their entire starting WR corps. Sometimes I feel like you selectively fail to address the big picture. Not only do you have to think about keeping others from scoring, but you also have to be able to score points if you are going to win. BTW: UF has two Sr. safeties (Jackson has significant experience, incl. 12 starts) and a CB with a couple of starts under his belt.

Cal returns 3 starters in the secondary

And those guys weren't starting last year, why?

I guess they were starters when Florida was going 4-4 in SEC play.

Providing our WR corp doesn't drop off all that much...and your 3 starters improve some...that means we'll only score, I dunno...21 points by the 3rd quarter, and we'll keep up the pressure during the 3rd and 4th, rather than putting in the scrubs. I don't see that as a huge hurdle, really.

I don't think the WR corps will be that bad next year. I think we have capable, talented WRs that will start next year. However, they just weren't as good as our 3 starters last year.

yeah i'm sure there will be little drop off from experienced talented WRs to guys who have never played a Div 1A game in the first game of the season.

I don't think you'll see guys turning 5yard curls into 80yard td's off the bat, but I think that if they run the routes right, Ainge can drop it right into their hands.

Don't worry Vols.

Bruce Pearl is coming to save the day! :superman:

But seriously...

This year, anything could happen. Its a make or break year for sure. I think our running will improve, but our passing game will fall off a bit which makes me think that our offense will struggle this year.
