Total War: Warhammer

There is also Korhil the White Lion who is essentially in the game to the point it pisses me off they didn't use his real name. Allaster in the game is the white lion. he is the direct protector of the Phoenix King, killed a lion bare handed.

Allarile is the Everqueen, leader of Averlorn. strong magic but directly tied to the land. healer and spiritual leader of the elves. she has female bodyguards who probably get a unit whenever she is introduced.

Finubar is the Phoenix King, not much of a fighter, but a great Admiral.

Alith Annar (spelling) semi mythical king of the Shadow Warrior (high elf version of DE shades). leader of the people of Nagarythe. they technically never replaced him even though he is gone, but he keeps showing up so you can't officially say he is gone and the people are so broken they don't have a real court like the other lands so no one bemoans the lack of a leader. Uses a bow, under the moon he is ethereal. He is the only other elf to successfully invade Naggaroth. He even infiltrated Naggarond itself and danced with Morathi before stealing a magical jewel from her. Malekith fears him, Morathi hates him, and there is an active bounty on his head but no Assassin has ever claimed it.

Damn that’s a lot of solid information.

So which lords are actually and the game and who aren’t? Like are the lords you can buy with influence the ones you are talking about or are they the leaders of the other elven factions?

Also what exactly is the capitol of Ulthuan? I know Lothern is a pretty big city. Also is the Phoenix King the overall leader of all the high elves?

The ones I mentioned are the named ones that had models at some point. each realm had its own leaders but most/many of them barely get mentioned, some I doubt even have a name.

The Korhil/Allaster is the closest to a direct translation. none of the others really fit. some of the rare items/followers are items from the table top so you could equip a lord in a similar fashion. for one the Star Lance is something I have seen, Imrik has that in the tabletop.

The capital moves with the Phoenix King, Finubar is the overall political leader of the Elves, but he works with the Everqueen who is the spiritual leader. they aren't married, family, and usually have no connection outside of the ritual sex they have once a term of rule/year can't remember which. Finubar is from Lothern, so that is why it is the capital. it is the largest (population), and arguably the richest with relation to the wealth being usable, of the elven cities. it is also the only one outsiders are allowed in, and even that is extremely limited. My big beef with Lothern is it exists as a literal gateway to the inner elven sea. but in the game you can freely pass by it. there are 3 gates, I think, that stretch all the way across the harbor so the only ones with access have to go thru the city. except for the dark elfs (who used to live there) it is incredibly rare for Ulthuan to be formally invaded. I can only think of 3 times. they still face plenty of dangers from all the magic (really big nasty versions of all the "feral" stuff you see in the game.

Aenarion (the first phoenix king) was from Nagarythe, so the capital was up there, it wasn't until the Sundering that Nagarythe got really messed up. and actually the city that was the capital became the first black arks, the dark elfs ripped the city up with magic and took it with them when they left. or at least pieces of it. after Aenarion most of the Phoenix Kings were actually from Caledor, the ties to the dragons lending a lot of clout to them. but as the dragons slumbered other realms have taken over. Imrik being the first to wake dragons made him a heavy candidate for Phoenix King the last time there was an election.

Ah okay gotcha. Yeah I was a bit surprised ships could easily pass through lothern and what not too. It seemed like a gate city but it felt weird how it wasnt, and this is coming from someone with very little lore knowledge. What’s the difference between the outside of Ulthuan and inside? Other than the vortex of course.

the inner realms (inside the gates and mountains), are a lot more protected and nice. here you get the idyllic landscapes you expect in a fantasy game; although the mountains can have rough spots. on the outside the lands were all devasted during various events. so you do get some nice places and cities, its not idyllic. and several places were damaged by a big Tsunami during the sundering, especially Nagarythe but any northern realm was hit, that made it all the way to the mountains. there were stories about the elves having to fight sea monsters on land afterwards because the wave have dumped so many of them.

if you pay attention to the Landmark buildings that will tell you what that land specializes in. in the lore you generally only got certain specialized units from certain areas. generally the garrisons are the unique units. Phoenix Guard are tied to the Shrine of Assuryan (on an island i think). Sword Masters and mages come from the Tower of Hoeth, Dragon Princes and Dragons from Caledor, chariots from Tryanoc, Ellyrian Reavers from Ellyr, White Lions and Eagles from Chrace. Phoenixs came from the mountains. Lothern Sea Guard from Lothern. Spearmen, Archers, and Silver Helms can come from anywhere. There are two other special units not in the game, yet. Shadow Warriors (think shades) from Nagarythe, and the Sisters of Averlorn, from Averlorn. in the lore there are only 100 of them so it wouldn't upset me if they weren't in the game, but they did get models so who knows.

It's sad how little I know about Warhammer Fantasy.

It's also sad how much I know about 40k.

This new Age of Sigmar setting has killed my drive to eventually get into the WHFB side of tabletop gaming.

Do not associate anything Age of ****mar with Fantasy! It is an abomination that makes no sense.

they are supposedly considering doing releases of old models. haven't said they are bringing back the actual game.

find you an old rule book and enjoy it, a McKays will usually have something.

Ah okay that makes a lot of sense. I was wondering why nagarythe was inhabitable in the game and what not. Yes I did notice the unique building part, that cleared a lot up. Right now I am at the fourth vortex ritual and this stack of chaos and skaven is a tough one. They all spawn right next to eachother and there no way to predict where they will spawn.

yeah, you will lose a settlement or two. just focus on keeping the ritual sites.

The thing is if I lose a provincial capital my economy will tank hard. Idk what happened exactly but Tor Yvresse got razed and my income went from 5000 to -8000

ouch. with the ritual don't you pay less upkeep?

Well... just realized the reason it got into the negative was because lothern was being held under siege by a dark elf intervention. I made quick work of them so it’s all good now.

Well I just played the most epic siege battle I have ever played in total war history.

Basically against 4 late game stacks of skaven. Never seen that much carnage in a game in my life. I’m going to be having dreams of the dragons raining fire on the rats on the walls for a while. Oh my epic.

you had a rough go of it it looks like. I love some of the crazy battles. If I fire up my lizardmen campaign I will have to cap some of the battles vs the vamps.

You gotta record those, man

Persian you should check out milkandcookiesTW on YouTube. He has the best commentary and the custom map battles to go with it. You learn the lore as you go.

Yeah I definitely saved that battle.

Hmm I’ll check it out. Thanks for the heads up.
