I don't think it is. Recruiting is part of great coaching. He had some great classes he could not win with at KU, but shows up to Carolina who had a superb class already in place and finally gets it done.
Now he is back to recruiting his own style players and had a terrific lineup this year and got killed by Kansas. If the big 3 for them stay and he still does not win it with all he has coming in, there is a problem.
And, even if I did not say that, the other facts are still in place, 6 final fours, 1 championship comapred to K's 10 FF, with 3 championships and the best winning percentage in the NCAA tournament. And i'm pretty sure K has the most sweet 16's also.
So in no way does Roy deserve the #1 spot, maybe not even the 2.
