Top 50 Nicest Campuses

Pepperdine’s campus itself isn’t that great honestly. Been there several times. The views are spectacular as it sits up on a hill overlooking Malibu and the Pacific, but the buildings and facilities aren’t that great.
I’m sure the average facilities are more than made up for with the other surrounding “views” in Malibu.

I probably would’ve considered persuading my parents to get caught in a bribery scheme for me to go to Pepperdine. I can row.

Been to UCLA a couple of times. Very pretty campus in a great area of LA. Was able to walk into Pauley Pavilion… fairly small but very nice. Quad area is beautiful.

Haven’t been on USC’s campus but I know it’s very close to Compton. Pretty campus from what I understand but in a terrible area.

Been to Stanford as well… it’s got nothing on Duke. Pretty spots here and there but I love Duke’s architecture and gothic look.
Duke is a nice campus. UNC is a very nice campus too. More of a traditional college campus. Unfortunately, UT and NC State share a lot of similar qualities.

We have a return game with BYU this coming fall. I'm going to try and make that trip. I went to a TCU at Utah game back when TCU was in the MWC. Checked out the Mormon Tabernacle and then drove down to Provo. Very beautiful area.

Yeah Provo is breathtaking. Haven't been there since I was 13 years old though.

Somewhat subjective. We are definitely Top 10 worthy but how is Pepperdine not listed when they are easily Top 10 too?

Baylors was nice down by the river and the sunken creek. I was really impressed with what they did with water all over the campus. But after that it felt like Anywhere U. None of the architecture really stood out to me.

I am not sure where Tennessees campus is, but it's too high. We bulldozed all the nice parts to put up mega buildings in their faux "collegiate gothic" style. Only two of our buildings have won design awards from outside the region, the Architecture building and the new Music Building, guess what two buildings are the admins least favorite? Nevermind you have a top 25 architecture program you could have review design, nah just crank out some bs the bean counters made up.

A lot of these universities are all becoming very similar. There’s no personality on the Strip anymore, and the same thing is happening on Franklin Street in Chapel Hill. There are always going to be some old favorites that hang on, like Half Barrel, but for the most part it’s Panera Bread, Starbucks, CVS. It’s too bad. I didn’t recognize a lot of campus last time I was there.

I like the architecture building but it needs to be power washed or something. It’s a bit dingy on the outside

UT used to have a bunch of weird, old niches on the back side of the hill and in between the older buildings around. But as things have gotten more planned those leftover spaces get included and lose their uniquiness

Yeah the university hates spending money on it. We had to do a couple fundraisers to get some basic work done while I was there. It's not that they dont have the money, they just really hate the building because it's not their bs collegiate gothic style.

The music building design only happened because the president or the chancellor was a temporary one who wasnt getting the full time job and they approved it before the new person got there as an FU to the admin.

Agree with all of this. USC’s campus is nice but I love UCLA’s, Stanford’s and Duke’s more and Duke (maybe UCLA) is probably my favorite of those.

I honestly don’t love UVA as much as other people do, but probably partially because it reminded me of Montgomery Bell Academy in some places

And Notre Dame is not a top-2 campus IMO. Michigan’s is nice but mainly in the law school area

I love Notre Dame’s campus. Not sure what it would be like attending college there though.

This list is clearly excluding a ton of colleges. Like Ohio U is pretty nice but I think they’re getting credit for the town too. There are tons of small liberal art colleges w nicer campuses than theirs. Kenyon College is probably the nicest campus in Ohio.

Connecticut College in New London is very nice

Chaminade in Honolulu is perched over UH Manoa and has a view of Diamond Head and the Pacific Ocean. The downside is they share a campus w St Louis School

Am I the only one who thinks Pepperdine’s campus looks like a really nice assisted living facility near the coastline?

Isn't that basically what the school is? A babysitter of sorts for the offspring of the rich and famous?

That Malibu-ish location is hard to beat though. I remember touring there for grad school and briefly trying to figure out a way to be a perpetual student living in the Pepperdine dorms.

As for UT being in the top 50? I'm not so sure. UT kind of has the same issue as my undergrad alma mater GT. They are both kind of concrete jungles located near the downtowns of decent sized cities. Just very little room to build except up these days. Ayres and the old campus are cool and have that academia feel about them but as you go west, things kind of get generic.

I was surprised to not see East Tennessee State University or Tennessee on that list.

I went to school at both of those universities so I am biased.

Tennessee isn’t a great looking school as a whole. There’s a train depot right next to campus and there always seems to be construction on campus. The Ag Campus has/had a few condemned buildings and some of the other buildings that hold classrooms are definitely showing age.
