A left-wing mother said she would rather take the lives of herself and her children just to avoid Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

The woman, who is named Tavi Quinn on TikTok, said that death would be “an easier out” than encountering ICE agents, who she accused of being pedophiles. Her remarks came as anti-ICE sentiments continue to escalate throughout the U.S. since the death of Renee Good, who was shot by an ICE agent after hitting him with her car in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on Jan. 7.

“If it comes down to me taking out myself and my kids versus us being taken and harmed by ICE, like, God help me, I did not want to do it. This is not the life I wanted, but that is a very dark thought that I’ve had. Death would be an easier out than for my children to be taken and harmed by these pedophiles,” she said. The minority is always the most vocal. I’m confident that we have the advantage in the next election and the foreseeable future as long as there isn’t a major screw up.

We do. I am guessing this is a gotcha kind of question but I'll see if I can explain . My comment was that I didn't think the policy change was wise. I would have liked him to research the possible effects instead of implementing them the first week. RT85 tied it to vaccine mandates. I don't see a parallel between anti vax people and mentally ill. I belief we have an obligation to take care of people that don't have the ability to themselves. The convo wasn't worth his time.

If you actually believe that, that's fine. But to me it looks a little disingenuous coming from the types of folks that generally show little regard if not outright disdain towards the homeless (not saying that's you specifically).

What democrats are pushing that right now? I don't know of any. Even AOC who says "abolish ICE" just wants to replace it with a more humane approach to the same thing.

Almost no democrats are saying "abolish ICE" and cryin' Chuck found enough votes to make sure it got funded last week.

I think what you’re seeing on here is more a situation where people newly exposed to the idea that it’s a government problem are just going with what they’re being fed.

NYC lost 16/100,000+ homeless persons as a result of the change to a less effective policy.

In January 2024, when the more effective NYC policy had been in place and able to be studied for decades, Knox County had a homeless population of <3500 and suffered 7 weather related fatalities in a single storm. In the most recent storm, Knoxville had 3 weather related deaths.

I couldn’t find numbers for Chattanooga, but I can’t remember anybody ever blaming local government for weather related deaths.

It's misplaced anyway. NYC lost 3 people to overdoses and 13 because it was historically cold for a sustained period. The policy change people are referencing was about tearing down homeless encampments, which isn't where people died and doesn't help anyone
