While Trump isn't really all that conservative, it's the Trump Republicans who have driven the party further right, and most of them are hard right conservatives.

We'll probably disagree on this but I don't think there are any more far right Republicans than there was 10 years ago. The left is just more radical. 10 years ago I was coming off a vote for Obama and I was a moderate that leaned left. People like leaders with some gravitas and Trump has it in spades versus a Romney, McCain, and some of the other Republicans afraid to be on the outside of the progressive social club.

I think when Trump's term is over hopefully we'll see some Trump policy mixed with more fiscal conservatism, and better emotional behavior. To be fair it is difficult to pull of fiscal conservatism today.
