You don't have to be, it's an enshrined right. It's fear mongering both parties use to whip up their base. Because everyone knows, even politicians, once you start removing those enshrined rights everything falls apart.

More specifically, a problem caused by ice being masked and purposefully concealing their identities. What is to stop regular citizens from grabbing tactical gear, stitching “ICE” across the front, and conducting themselves however they want (kidnapping people, beating people, shooting people) since this administration is clearly trying to give ice carte blanche. How are people supposed to differentiate the two?

This is the dumbest thing i've ever heard. "Law enforcement cant mask up and wear tactical gear to do operations, what if criminals do the same"?

Might it happen once or twice around the entire country? Sure, we already have cases of police impersonators everywhere, they are always arrested in the few instances it happens
