He's actually at great at public speaking. Check out the presser when his hiring was announced, or when Heup/Kim was hired, or other speaking engagements he's done, etc. He was simply nervous and unsure during this, and it showed.

His popularity has taken a hit recently for ticket price increases. Now he knows there's a narrative out there, correct or incorrect, that is blaming him for running off the most successful and popular coach on campus.

You may be right but that press conference was pathetic. He was obviously rattled and nervous and feeling the heat. Did not project confident leadership. He kept saying um uh um well um uh etc...

It's not even a critique of Danny White, if I'm being honest. I could care less if he and Tony didn't get along. They didn't have to be friends, but a good athletic director recognizes that his success is tied to the success of the programs on campus. He had ONE program that won a national championship in the last 20 years and he couldn't even bring himself to meet face to face with Tony since the news broke Saturday. That's maddening. It's Ego.

Tony Basilio and crew are ripping Danny White. I don’t understand why. He basically debunked the false rumors and plans to conduct a full fledged coaching search, where Elander is a candidate. This is the right move. Is DW the villain here? I don’t think so.

He's not the top Villain, but definitely a villain nonetheless! He and Tony didn't have the best relationship, and if they had a great relationship, then this might not have gotten this far. We will never know now

Any AD doesn’t win or lose a game but can help or hurt program with fans and potential coaches. Danny would have been better just putting out the press release and keeping his mouth shut today.

I'd be fine with Chris Burke over the Kentucky guy. Oregon has a good coach, but the west coast thing doesn't ever work here, although I'm still soured by Serrano. Jay Johnson has worked well.

He probably was also thrown off by the press corps asking unusually pointed questions.

I was shocked (and especially since it was Brent Hubbs) he was asked straight up what his relationship with TV was like. That question, which is perfectly legitimate, was asked 100% because of the speculation that he didn't have a great relationship with him. Then the very next question (not sure who asked it) asked about the Twitter rumors about TV being upset with rev share.

I figured the state-run media would have veered clear of both of those topics, especially since both are speculative.

He let the nation's best college baseball coach, who should have been here for life and would have been the GOAT, walk. Man was built for NCAA baseball and loved it here. It really was stupid not to settle differences and move on. Tremendous loss. DW is definitely the villain.

I'm sure coaches are watching that press conference saying "I know that they are loaded with a talented team and have invested heavily into the program, but that press conference was in poor taste, so I'm not interested in that job."

I would make Elander the coach and do it quickly. He deserves it, worked under TV enough to know how to coach and keep recruits. The portal has changed the game and the rules have changed as well regarding transfers on a coaching change.

Danny’s job is to make money for the university. He also made Tony the highest paid coach in college baseball plus renovated a stadium for 103 million dollars. So for people to say that he didn’t support Tony or the baseball team is simply not true. I love Tony and hope he kills it in the bigs but saying he didn’t get support is simply not true.

Players who enter the portal will not be eligible to play this season unless they transfer down or are a Grad Transfer. Hindy is our only Grad Transfer.
