Tony Elliott Appears To Be a Target

Preferably a guy that’s done it before and can rebuild quickly and work with the talent he’s giving and the ability to make good adjustments in games something Pruitt could not do. Matt Campbell fits that bill to me we aren’t hiring Freeze or a Bob Stoops I would throw the money at Campbell and make him say no 100 times. Knoxville vs Ames, Iowa cmon no comparison there. Campbell would be my number one choice right now if I was Danny White.
And the record next two years?

There is not guaranteed success with any candidate we choose. Not Campbell, Kiffin, Napier, Elliot or even Saban if he came here in an alternate universe.
I think a head coach wins this fanbase when his players do not $hite themselves vs. UGA, UF, BAMA; then slobberknocks the also rans of the SEC. The 2020 team beat itself against inferior opponents at least twice and couldn't replace a QB who individually cost us several games in two seasons. I have watched Pruitt teams and wondered if there was a gambling ring in the locker room when I turned the TV off.

Also: Tony Elliot seems to be liked and respected coordinator. Pruitt was a respected coordinator.
He is better than anyone we even interviewed 3 years ago. Let's see what happens.

There were times I had thought about the gambling thing also. Especially when you would see strange turn of events in games.

We need a coach that has taken inferior talent and coached said talent up to a high level. Somebody like a Dan Mullen, Luke Fickell, Billy Napier, or Scott Frost.

Tony Elliott has had superior talent to work with at Clemson.

If we do hire him, I'll still support him but this would be a fairly underwhelming hire.

I wasn’t kidding yesterday when I said he is apparently White’s top target. Manning just doesn’t seem to agree with that strategy and is pushing back. Like everyone else, I’ve got a “source.” TIFWIW
I'll play -- without sharing names share information about your source. Is he an admin guy, with the Athletic Department, Charlie's cousin, Thunder's janitor, Jimmy's sister in law's hair dresser, Peyton's friend from college's suitmate?

Just a little curious since I thought we have a new AD who is vetting and selecting the new coach. Not sure others outside a tiny tiny circle would have any idea.

The idea of bringing in Tony Elliot is growing on me. Offensive minded, recruits well, and is universally well liked is different from what we have had in the past. People want to see this guy succeed.
Me too...I would rather have a coach who has ran a program just not sure we are in that position...with Elliott we get a guy that played, has won championships, street and media cred for hiring a AA head coach....every coach on our list comes with concern imo and Elliot has the most upside

Please don't. There's no reason to revolt this time if he is hired. He's a great Coach, Recruiter and person. If fans revot you know damn well the race card will be used by the media. Please don't make us all look like redneck racists.Just support who he hires, he's proven he know's what he's doing as an AD.
I wish I could like your post 10000x

And the fact that it was quoted that many coaches across the country said “ they would work for him in a heart beat”
but I agree with you completely

If he hires Elliot we revolt!! We have proved before in 2017 we fans the silent majority can make change happen.
And what happened?
Schiano was first choice and the search was over. Instead, UT had to go through multiple guys saying no and UT having to overpay for someone who wasn’t ready to be a HC.

IF I’m going the coordinator route, Elliott would be on anyone’s top 5 list. He’s the opposite of Pruitt, very engaging. Tried copying the Saban route, the Dabo route is at least proven as well.

Clemson showed against Ohio State how much Elliott meant to Clemson.

If you go head to head, Elliott has pulled MORE 5/4 stars than Pruitt has.

The more Frost and Heupel coach, the less impressive their HC record is. Pass.
Give Frost the resources he would have at UT and the recruiting landscape in the South and he would do well here I think better than he is at Nebraska it’s a graveyard there now for recruiting. I know though that’s his alma mater and he wants to get it turnaround there and they will probably give him 5 or 6 seasons to try and do it.

I would be behind this hire if we get him. He would definitely win the press conference, he is a very impressive person. But while being the Clemson OC for 4 years is not nothing, his resume shouldn’t wow anybody. I don’t think he is ready for this job yet.

Would rather have Elliott than Bob Stoops. Need a hungry motivated young coach like our AD. Interesting background with Elliott. Tennessee or any sec program is definitely a tough place to learn on the job. Don’t revolt at least until the magical “Year Three“ when all the candidates are on the clock to win the SEC East and sweep Georgia and Florida.

Might as well just bring back Fulmer if you’re going to hope that Stoops can re-create 15 year old magic.
