Tony Elliot Reaching Out To Assistant Coaches Should He Become Tennessee HC

I prefer content of character over color of skin. Just sayin'

Hopefully UT is looking for the Best Qualified Coach Period. Hiring a Black staff for visuals is the Epitome of Racist. Why is it OK to say that, but not if you turn the tables? In today's world, the BEST will get promoted; and to suggest otherwise is simply not being honest.

UT is down. No question about it. But if (Big if) they are able to get us out of this mess, this is still the type of place you retire at. I still think this is the type of program that you can win a championship at, even though the program is on the ventilator and has been forever. If we get up and rolling again, we can easily be every bit the program that Georgia has been the past few years. And dare I say, even Clemson currently. We have that type of potential, which is what makes this 15 year mess so frustrating and why all of the fans are so mental sometimes.
^^This is the best post of the day, 100% true. GBO

I'm good with Tony Elliott, I want him to try to poach some coaches from Clemson.

Try to bring Brandon Streeter (QB), Robbie Caldwell (OL), Mickey Conn (safeties and former Grayson High school coach).

HC: Elliott

Defense
DC/ILB: Steele
OLB/Recruiting: Kevin Simon
Safeties: Conn
DL: Garner
CB: Ansley or someone else

Offense
OC/TE: Chaney
OL: Caldwell
QB/Passing Game: Streeter
WR/ Special Teams: Tee Martin
RB: Jay Graham

That's personally how I'd like to see it go. If you can't get Streeter then Osovet can coach QBs. Weinke needs to be gone or off the field. Herb Hand for OL if you can't get Caldwell.
Would love that staff ..

Bring him and bring a predominantly black coaching staff.
Ok, I'm going to be that guy. If I hurt your feelings, I'm sorry. Growing up in the Appalachian I was ignorant also. But there comes a time in your life you can't blame it on your family or situation. There are good and bad people that come in all colors. I see light orange and dark orange. Please let's keep that way.

He be trolling you guys.......and you let him.

He probably don’t even want Elliot to come.....he just stirring up crap.

A Georgia fan on another threat pointed out that comparing Elliot and Pruitt is apples and oranges. Elliot is also an offensive minded coach which fits well with the recent changes in CFB. Elliot coaching the offense and Steele the defense could be a winning combo as long as they can recruit.

SIAP on some of this, but Elliott has an engineering degree so he’s a pretty smart guy. Hopefully that means he can figure out X’s and O’s. Then there is a rumor floating around out there that he’s really tight with George Quarrels and if he gets the job at UT, there’s a better than good chance Quarrels is coming with him. TIFWIW. I know a lot of people on this forum really like Quarrels. Again, sorry if it’s been mentioned previously.

Compared to some of the other options listed, I don't think Tony Elliot would be that bad of a hire.

It seems to me like he doesn't have a strong enough personality to be a HC and he's gotten where he is today because he's like a son to Swinney. Clemson's offense is where it is because of Swinney and Lawrence, IMO, not because of Elliot. If we hire him I think it will be a mistake but I'm willing to avoid grumbling for the sake of promoting a positive culture.

We should not be hiring an offensive coordinator who doesn't even control his own offense.

It'll be a bunch of rookie analysts from Clemson who think they can run Dabos system and position coaches with GREAT INTEGRITY from Southern New North Ari-Mexico

Well, as a Black man it would have been nice if we hired a Black head football coach for the first time in our history........but whatever. I've said my peace. Carry on.

It seems to me that Danny White cares more about his own image than he does the well-being of the program he was hired to direct. He evidently thinks he can make a PC hire that will wow the woke crowd, not caring that said hire doesn't have the minimum qualifications that we should be requiring at this juncture. This seems more like the move of someone who aspires to a career in politics and wants to boost his own brand than someone who actually gives a crap about the program that just made him the highest-paid AD in the top conference in the country.

White, if you hire Elliott, f you and I hope you are fired within two years because you deserve it. If you hire any coordinator, or anyone who has no HC experience, you have made this job your personal laboratory for experimenting, and that's just unconscionable with where we are now as a program.

All those who bemoan that we can't get anyone worth having: that's bunk. If we turn over enough rocks and talk to enough coaches who have proven track records and offer enough of them twice what they're making now, someone will want to leave Backwater U. for the life-changing salary boost and the massive jump in exposure, sanctions or not. It's just laziness on the part of White to settle for a coordinator; and if race is playing any factor at all in his decision, he should be shown the door right now because we are not within a thousand miles of a place with this program where we can afford to be someone's political statement at the potential expense of the future of this football program.

There is absolutely NO EXCUSE to not hire Hugh Freeze now. The NCAA may not even exist five years from now. And this nonsense that we can't hire him because of the investigation doesn't hold water: he served his time and is under no restriction, he is coaching at a school that is a member of the NCAA right now and is not under investigation, and though I'm not a lawyer I doubt they could even get away with adding one extra sanction to us because we hired a coach who got hammered by them five years ago and is now completely and utterly free to coach at any school he so chooses.

It's several levels beyond asinine and mindless and indefensible to hire a coach with no HC experience and who could easily be the final nail in the coffin for this program because of lack of said experience, when one of the very best coaches in the country has said that he wants to coach here and would come here in a second. It seems to me that the B.S. about not being able to hire Freeze because of the investigation is just a convenient excuse because one or more than one of the boosters has listened too much to Phil or is too self-righteous for our good and just wants a reason to not hire him. Maybe they're playing the same game they played when they wouldn't hire Cutcliffe because he wanted to bring his staff, or when, depending on which national journalist you believe, they passed on Gruden because he wanted too much control: maybe they just want someone they can control again.

One thing is for certain: if we hire a coordinator with no HC experience, neither the administration nor our shiny new AD give a damn about UT football, and they deserve an empty Neyland when September rolls around. You can bet I won't spend a dime on this program going forward if they hire a coordinator, any coordinator.
