Tony Basilio

Best way to get him off the radio is stop paying attention. You just gave him some more free attention. Having said that, I don't listen often but I tune in on occasion. Get some thicker skin.

Tony has been saying this week that his "inside sources" say that the coaches do not trust Shrout and if Maurer is a no go, then Guarantano will be the QB on Saturday. Seems to me like a very low percentage prediction, given the circumstances last week. So, here is a chance for all the Basilio haters to stand up and be heard or eat crow. Who all is willing to stand behind their statements that Basilio is "full of it" on the record and come back here and eat crow if Guarantano starts over Shrout?? Lets hear it?

Saying JG starts over JT is like proclaiming your intelligence because you figured out red was hot and blue was cold. Golf clap yay for you.

how do we get this guy off the air? he is complete trash and claims to have insiders in the program that give him information that never proves true. i listened to this guy's show for weeks during the Gruden fiasco. Every day for a month, this guy claimed that Gruden was negotiating with Currie, then signed a contract with UT and then was going out of his way to keep it a secret so he could announce it on MNF. He never has confirmed information and uses false information to generate listeners and sponsors. He is the last guy we want recruits knowing about and listening too prior to visiting Knoxville. pretty sure he still lives in his mama's basement.
Don’t necessarily disagree, but why do you listen to him? Dude is a kook and not to be trusted.

Putting his name at the top of a thread on one of the biggest Vol message boards on the net is a good start.

Ummm, last I checked you don't have to listen. This isn't North Korea, no mandatory listening to programming.

Are you kidding me? Who the hell doesn’t know this already who’s paying even scant attention. Why do you think Pruitt said the positive things about Guarantano in his presser yesterday? Jeez, if this is your proof/point that Basilio isn’t a know-nothing kook, if this is supposed to be the inside info that somehow gives him credit, then you need to head back to the drawing board. Lol.

Back when I was a student at UT and a couple years afterward, I would listen to Mike Keith's show. He had good info on recruiting and also had good guests. Nobody has ever replaced him in the Knoxville market. I have tried listening to Basilio in the past, but he does too much off-base speculation. If that bothers you too, just don't listen.

Basilio and Swain are both fantastic... they both provide great insight and info into what's going on... I love Basilio's post game shows too... WNML is mostly a complete waste of time with exception of Josh Ward's podcasts...

The Podcast is definitely where it's at. That way, you can skip the 10 minute commercial breaks and nonsense callers. I can knock out almost all of the 2 hour show on my 40 minute drive home.

Easy answer If you don’t like him then don’t listen to his show. If you do like him then listen. To me it’s like FOX News and MSNBC. Both are really opinion networks with a sprinkling of news. Trump people like Fox and hate MSNBC and vice versa. Honestly if I don’t like a show I don’t watch it, but I don’t go around worrying on whether it should be on or off the air.

I have a feeling the person responsible for this post about Basilio is Eric Ainge
Eric Ainge is right behind him............Swain and Doug Mathews are the only 2 we can count on for logical information. all the other shows just fill time with BS and speculation.

He's certainly MUCH better than ANYTHING WNML puts on the air. I'd rather listen to him than Jimmy Hyams toting the company line.
Huh? When did you actually hear SPORTS on WNML? All I ever get are ENDLESS commercials.

I wonder how many companies realize that, after i have heard the same commercial for their product in excess of 100 times in a one week period, i actually become statistically significantly MUCH LESS likely to make a purchase of said product?

Where do you work. I’d like to evaluate your performance and then share it on the forum.

He ain’t going no where because some jack wagon stops listening. He has faithful listeners and advertisers. He’s survived several decades and with the internet he technically doesn’t need to rely on some puny station carrying his program.

Basillio is a Knoxville institution. Every college town has one on the radio for sports. A "homer" to the end. I, personally, love it. I think he has his place. He has been right at times, a little off at times and way off at times. Another words, like every other media personality in this town that has come and gone. The difference is Tony B. is still here. I only catch up with his show once a week or so, but I look forward to it. Beano !!! How do you not like Beano?? Anyway, just my two worthless cents.
Yep, a nice guy trying to make a living by broadcasting from his basement using surplus WWll Russian radio equipment. Wish him the best but with only a score of listeners I know it’s tough. Good luck

I don't think that's a good example. At least 50% odds he is right, and JG has gotten the nod every other game this year.... sounds like a captain obvious statement to me.
My sources are telling me that either Jordan, Chandler or Gray will get the majority of the 1st team carries this weekend.
GBO!!

Basilio will at least address the issues going on at UT. Before 1340 he was the only one I knew of going against the grain.

Basilio is a punk and a clown, but I like him. At least he and the Fox guys actually let the callers have a say in the topics. You don’t dare disagree with the animal peeps, that turned me off a long time ago.
GBO!!
