Tony Basilio just reported...

Only thing left is for Phil to hire himself as coach. From what I hear he has sabotaged this whole thing just so he could get the AD job. Didnt he pull some more of this nonsense when they made him coach in the 90s.

You’ve earned the “i only listen to ESPM” badge. The correct history is not written by the losers and the losers are the ones with the ESPN contacts.

During all the chaos I was wondering how leach felt and if the money was right. Most Vols would support that hire and I think he would do well. Why do I feel like Fulmer won't have any interest in him?

I feel the same. Fulmer's a little too conservative character-wise for Leach, I think.

At the presser, Fulmer referred to some in the past who declined UT but might now be interested. It was arguably his most candid remark. My guess is that he had Patterson on the brain. Remember, Patterson publicly chided UT a few weeks ago for basically choosing flash over substance. And who can relate better to those remarks than Fulmer, a fellow good ole boy who surpassed expectations. Would you fault Fulmer if he sees a little of himself in Patterson?

Would Patterson leave TCU? Maybe. He can’t win a natty there, because he can’t recruit top ten classes. In spite of resounding success, he sits only at 28 in the composite recruiting rankings - and that’s with BAY, TEX and TAM rebuilding. TCU simply does not have the facilities or name recognition to draw top recruits, meaning Patterson will need to leave if he wants a trophy. And Jimbo may have just given him added incentive. So, don’t be surprised when two country boys join forces on the hill.

No. Fuente's buyout is $5 mil. I would do that tonight and if Fulmer pulled it off it would be a home freakin' run. Justin Fuente could take this program to the next level. I live in Memphis and saw what he did with the Tigers team. This guy is for real and we would eventually take Saban down. Fuente is a take any day over Brohm. :good!:

Fuente has no incentive to leave VT. They have had only one coach for decades before Fuente. They got plenty of cash to fend off teams. Right now, UT is not a better job than VT. FSU is interesting because of their returning roster next year, but they aren’t gonna fork out Jimbo money to their next coach.

Good article on how Boosters and Admin were tired of Jimbo wanting more money after all they invested into the program with him there.

I'll believe it when I see it but the lie about Haslam makes me discount it all. There is no over their heads. Bev's boss serves at the will of the Governor, you know, Governor Haslam. There is no over their head to go to.

So you think the Chancellor of the University of Tennessee is powerless to say no?

Big Jim Haslam didn't want Fulmer as AD. Pushed for Reid Sigmon to replace Currie instead of Fulmer. Davenport refused - to quote Tony - "over my dead body".

Florida State is light years of us. Candy played Tennessee to determine who was the worst team in the SEC, and they crushed us. Dude we're not on that level anymore. That's not to say we will never be good again, but right now we're irrelevant.
Oh stfu. One bad year does not take away UT's prestige as a program. Think about it, the national media has been up our azz the past week due to our coaching search. If the same events were happening at a lesser program nobody would have paid attention. We get media attention for better or worse because we are a top 10 historic program. Our brand alone attracts elite recruits. Oh and FSU just snuck into a bowl today by beating lowly Lousiana Monroe. Keep telling yourself they are light years ahead of UT.

FSU wasn’t a 10 win team this year because Francois got hurt week 1 vs Bama and they played a whole season with a true freshman at QB.

FSU is definitely lightyears ahead of us. Just look at the records in last 5-6 years

If you are saying that Fulmer signed off on the Dave Doroen hire then we have problems. I am not sure how or why that guy got offered. It makes me wonder if they even want to win football games.

Fulmer had zero power in his previous role.

Should Fuente be interested in us I’d like that hire.

Fuente - HC
Steele - DC (is gus leaves Aub, or we offer steel a raise.

I really like Patterson he and Petersen have been my top 2. I would love if he’s interested.

I think we really have a chance to land a successful coach with Fulmer as AD now

Light years? No way. Jimbo has been stable and Winston made them really good. I give them a lot of credit but our facilities and atmosphere is among the top. Their advantage is smoking hot cheerleaders and the beach.
