Tony Basilio just reported...

Only thing left is for Phil to hire himself as coach. From what I hear he has sabotaged this whole thing just so he could get the AD job. Didnt he pull some more of this nonsense when they made him coach in the 90s.

When you draw conclusions based on hearsay and gossip....you define being a complete dolt. On top of being an obvious troll.

Didn't Patterson just sign an extension last week? Fuente? Sure if you can get him. Doubt it happens.

When do we get to the real candidates?
Both have huge buyouts I believe. I'm still not clear on the Brohm situation. I thought I heard the deal was close but then DiPietro shot down his $6 million buyout. I'm pretty sure I've heard Fuente's buyout is exponential of Brohm's.

He sure as hell did. It's in his nature. He will hire Cutcliffe or Miles. Nobody wants to work for that Judas Brutus, which is what Majors called Fulmer.

I don't like having to agree with you on this but I think it has some substance to it. SVP on ESPN was reporting it like that last night and it seems like every talk show on ESPN was devoted to the bizarre week UT had in hiring a coach. Van Pelt used those very words "sabotage." Others have used undermined coaching search. It doesn't matter how it's worded it gives UT a bad look. I'm damn sure a good coach is gonna give the matter some thought.

You know most posters on VN want to feel that UT is an attractive job with a great fanbase, a rich tradition, and top of the line facilities and getting a good coach to come hear isn't that hard. I don't see it that way at all. 1st thing that sticks out is a dysfunctional administration currently. Now an AD who holds a personal vendetta against the previous AD. A top booster who wants to run the whole show and has demonstrated that he doesn't know how, (Browns). Add to that Butch Jones recently stating the AD restricted his funding in hiring assistants. It's most beloved Hall of Fame player is seemingly involved with the top booster. All this together adds up to an image problem. Yeah winning cures everything but it would help if all the top administrators, together with all the boosters would stop all the backstabbing, and self-serving and put the university first.

It's getting harder to be competitive on a consistent basis in the SEC as a HC and that's what's expected of a coach. When you add all this other negative things taking place, I don't view UT as attractive at all. We need leadership that don't play this BS going on currently and need to pay him properly and get out of his way.

No. Fuente's buyout is $5 mil. I would do that tonight and if Fulmer pulled it off it would be a home freakin' run. Justin Fuente could take this program to the next level. I live in Memphis and saw what he did with the Tigers team. This guy is for real and we would eventually take Saban down. Fuente is a take any day over Brohm. :good!:

FSU is in play for Fuente as well it's being reported.

I listen to Tony;enjoy his show. Who is the cohost on his show this week, he laughs all the time. Loud, obnoxious laugh.

Jeff Brock. He was 1/3rd of the Saturday morning show that relentlessly bashed Fulmer. Jeff (?) Beano Henderson and Philly (forget his last name) were the other 2/3rds. Philly likes to call TN fans the Dumbest Fanbase in America. Beano is the only one that has a functioning brain.

You're absolutely right and I'd say chances are he'll say no. However the difference here is Fulmer is going after the RIGHT candidates up front and MAKING them say No! That's how you conduct a coaching search!

Phil doesn't have an enemy stabbing him in the back each time he tries to negotiate with a coaching candidate so naturally things are gonna appear they're going better. :twocents:

It feels weird saying this, but.... In Fulmer We Trust.

After everything that has happened in the last couple weeks (and especially this week), I feel like we finally have someone in charge who truly wants the best for the university. I'm going to trust that Fulmer will get us the best coach possible and not worry about the rest.

And maybe I will actually get some work done next week...

Neither did Currie.
Fulmer signed off on the next 2 choices after the meltdown. Currie got fired for going out west on a Kansas st plane and not answering his phone.

If you are saying that Fulmer signed off on the Dave Doroen hire then we have problems. I am not sure how or why that guy got offered. It makes me wonder if they even want to win football games.
