Tony Basilio just reported...

That Fulmer has wiped the slate clean with the coaching search and is starting over. Said his first two targets are confirmed to be Fuente and Patterson and he's contacting them directly (no agents) to see if they're interested.

Also reported that Bev Davenport went over Haslam's head to appoint Fulmer as AD. Said Haslam wanted Currie's assistant (forgot his name) and Bev told him "over my dead body." Said we owe Bev Davenport a lot of gratitude for standing up to the Haslams.

Say what you will about Basilio but Davenport’s actions seem to align with this theory, lending some credibility to his report of her going over the Haslams. Also based on the press conference, she definitely strikes me as someone with the b***s to tell Haslams to piss off. Reminds me a little of Lyanna Mormont.

If Fulmer calls Patterson personally I’m sure he will take the call and listen. He wouldn’t be rude to Fulmer. But he’s not leaving Ft Worth. He is their Nick Saban.

No idea on Fuente. But I do think he’s a good coach.

No. He was never approached. He just put out a statement when press inquired saying he has no interest in coaching college. Plus he has a record in Knoxville he’s not fond of revisiting.

Yeah, I'd think that the national media would have fun with that too....still think he will make a good coach, even if its not here.

You're absolutely right and I'd say chances are he'll say no. However the difference here is Fulmer is going after the RIGHT candidates up front and MAKING them say No! That's how you conduct a coaching search!

If the slate has been wiped clean, that technically means Kiffin never coached in the first place

Kiffin, Leach, or Jon Pipedream Gruden. I would officially submit that after this coaching search is over no matter if he ends up here or not Gruden should only be referred to as Pipedream or PD for short.

Well in 2012 his agent used the term fantasy about the UT job. The only harsher rejection would have been if he called us dumb ****s.

Agreed. It would obviously suck if he misses on all the big names. But I like the fact that he is trying.

He sure as hell did. It's in his nature. He will hire Cutcliffe or Miles. Nobody wants to work gor that Judas Brutus, who is what Majors called him.
I believe the Schiano hire DQ'd Currie.Tennessee should have never been in that situation. Do you want Tennessee to win with Fulmer AD? I think just asking you this question is one of our problems. Hope we can all pull together no matter the AD or coach. Go Vols

Agree...you should have heard that tool Andrew Fillipponi on CBS earlier today....blames Fulmer for everything and complains about having to talk about Tennessee with all of these championship games today. It's like really dude? It's your show. You CHOOSE the topics. Total tool.

If I could have reached through the radio I would have strangled him. He's way off

I love all the Basilio hate. He single handedly kept us from having Schiano as a head coach. Some of you are ignorant as hell

It was combined effort of 102455 Go Vols. What did Fulmer say in the presser? You can achieve great things when nobody cares who gets the credit.!

...and then Haslam ordered the hit.

I suspect that all we're doing is helping get other football coaches new buildings. Patterson already signed an extension and Fuente has no reason to leave VaTech. We may need to be realistic.
