Guys go undrafted or are barely drafted and then actually develop when they get some good coaching. We have had a good pass defense in 1/9 seasons with Martinez. The sample size is too huge to be a coincidence. Different head coaches, different coordinators, different players, same results.

I have no agenda, ever since he and the dentist guest started calling players names and making fun of them, I quit listening. Guys try their best and give their all and were ridiculed. They wear the orange, work their butts off, get injured and continue to play and have people who are not athletes and never been through what college scholarship athletes go through ridiclule them gave me freedom to never pay attention to them again.

College athletes make more money than most working folks, they will be ok. Tony Basillo is great

most of the hate for Basillo comes from the times when Tennessee sucked and Basillo just peddled unfounded rumors and conspiracies during coaching searches to drive ratings. People came to understand he was completely full of sh!t and basically the human form of click bait.

is he entertaining? yes.

He ridiculed players prior to NIL, each to his own would rather listen to people who know the game, played the game, attend practice, talk to players and appreciate what players went thru prior to NIL

I think most of it is because he's a Yankee, personally. Even though he's an alum, has lived in Knoxville for a long time, and bleeds orange. He has an obnoxious voice and is a hard listen outside of something specific to talk about, which fortunately, happens less and less since football, basketball, and baseball have all been good the last several years. Strange inside jokes and references with callers, etc. And I say these things as a fan of his show.

The "I don't like him because he speculates about stuff and is wrong and talks about rumors" angle is hilarious to me because we're all here on a message board. We love speculation and rumors. I've always thought the dislike of him here was more simple than that.

nah I could care less where he's from. I wasn't born in Tennessee either.

having speculation and rumors being spread on this message board is expected because the expectation is that nobody here knows any actual information. ita just a bunch of outsiders and fans.

journalist, especially local to the Knoxville market, should actually be informed before they speak. there's supposed to be a level of integrity there that I don't expect from someone who posts randomly and anonymously on a message board.

Basillio is just a radio version of this message board. like I said before if you consider that entertaining then go for it. I just find it super damn annoying. if I want to hear that garbage I'll just come here I don't need someone on the radio faking me out making me believe there is validity to the rumors when they themselves just got the rumors from message boards.

BTW it's not just Tony I dislike, I really don't like any local Knoxville sports radio personalities and haven't for a couple decades now. Tony just seems to be the worst when it comes to embracing the gossipy side of the Internet in his work.

Basilio is not a journalist, nor to my knowledge has ever claimed to be.
