SEC Network. They were talking about our situation. Luginbill said the problem with the Vols is the fans want to be Alabama, when in reality they should aspire to be Kentucky or Ole Miss. 🤬 What the.... ??? Kentucky or Ole Miss?

Well, Alabubba was Kentucky through the 90’s and up until they hired Saban so there’s that.

F'em all! We may have been down for way too long but we will always be better than those football programs. When we get the right people who n charge we will be back on top.

What we ought to do? Every time a Luginbill type makes that kind of statement, Tennessee fans need to sign an online petition for that sports commentator to eat s**t and die. With or without ice cream. Their choice.

How the hell does he know what Tennessee fans want/expect to be? This is just what these media types will say. We’re a mid level team and we’ll never again compete for championships etc. The truth is our last 12 years have been almost identical to the 12 years Alabama had prior to Saban’s arrival. The right coach immediately changes everything. Now...I doubt our new coach is our saban. Nobody has ever accomplished what Bama has over the last decade. But our fans don’t expect that either. We expect to be in the conversation for the sec east year in and year out.

Tennessee has the fanbase, resources, tradition, and facilities of a major football program. Period.

I love being told that not only are we currently down, but in reality we arent that good to begin with. Usually a national media person with a anti SEC bias to begin with, or a SEC writer with a Bama, Florida, or uga bias.

Its bull%$#@ no matter who says it.

KY and Ole Miss are better programs than UT right now. By my estimate UT is just above Vandy, and that's not by much. It is what it is.

Does it not occur to our fanbase that if we can stabilize the program and show some patience, and just get to the KY level of (admitted) mediocrity, we have established a basis for taking the program to the next, higher level?

Fans who think that in a couple of seasons we go from the disasters of the last few years, to truly competing with Alabama, UGA, or the Gators, are deluding themselves. It is going to take time.

Not with the mindset of the current administration. As long as the SEC network money keeps flowing, they will be content with UT remaining a 3rd Tier SEC team.

I'm hopeful, now that Hamilton-Hart-what'shisname-Fulmer had no part in the last two hires. MAYBE the administration has been shaken awake by the noise of ridicule from the sports world at what was once one of the premier powerhouses of the SEC. Has becoming the laughing-stock of college sports ANGERED them almost as much as it has the fans? I'd love to see it all fixed before I get too old to even care.
