He would only consider the HC position. I haven’t been able to locate the other comments I mentioned but actions also speak of intent. I stand by my toxic comment. The irony is if he had become OC here in the past he would probably be HC by now. That’s how Fulmer did it.

That's not unflattering to UT, just perhaps overvaluing his market worth. Standing by a baseless comment doesn't give it substance.

Pruitt doesn't seem to be considering it, and any time Martin's name comes up there is rancor towards him that appears to have no basis. Some folks, for some reason they can't/won't articulate, don't want him here in any capacity without regard to that capacity. I don't like people seeing race at every opportunity any more than the inexplicable opposition to having Tee here in *any* capacity.

I don't understand this point although I don't really keep up with OC and DC hires for the most part. The only ones I know off the top of my head are Kiffin and Sarkisian at Ala. I know they did not bring in their own people. Cut didn't when he returned from Ole Miss. What coordinators have hired at programs and brought in their own assistants? How many and which positions are usually brought in with the OC.

That's so funny! The best candidates are the ones everyone else wants, too. The ones that are proven are have a track record of success are being offered positions and accepting them from better organized institutions who know how to get things done.

I love the University of Tennessee and always will, but the level of justification and pacification from so much of this fan base amazes me.

When we hire a Coach with no HC experience to turn a program around, then he must have been the best person available and the right person to hire. If a recruit flips late against us, it's usually because we told him we didn't want him anymore. If the HC and AD can't agree on a hire, so it strings out for 1.5 months during one of the most crucial time for a program and while the best candidates are being hired left and right by other football programs, it's because they are making the right hire and being prudent in doing so.

Let's keep on defending the lunacy and accepting it as progress. It seems to be working for us during the last 10 years.

I hope it works out for the best with the OC hire, but at this point I feel like someone big will have to fall in our lap for us all to get lucky.

I love the hire, but stand by what I said. No way our staff knew Chaney was the guy a month ago and trolled the other coaches they interviewed if they already knew they had their coach.

I believe this is exactly the kind of "fall in our lap" lucky type of hire I mentioned.

I'm 100% behind this hire. Love what he's done with QB's and has a history of showing he isn't afraid to start a freshman QB if he's the best fit for the offense and gives the team a better chance to win.

There are rumors/stories that say Tee has spoke ill of UT in the past. I don't have an opinion on this as I've never read or heard what those comments were. However, I believe this may be the basis of what you described as "inexplicable opposition". I see that as a 'you've insulted my school and I don't like that' opposition. Is it irrational? Maybe, but it's not racist.

All that said, I personally wouldn't mind seeing Tee on staff but, due to my opinion of his resume, not as OC.

The Tee thing has nothing to do with race...honestly. It’s the fact that he has been far less than effective calling plays. If you can’t be successful calling plays in the PAC-12 then the SEC will tear you to pieces.

I don't think it's as simple as you say. I don't think everyone turned us down but at the same time I don't think we got the first coach we wanted for the position. We interviewed a lot of quality coaches and ended up with the best fit for both parties. A lot of other coaches would have panicked and went after a mid major Google coach

Tee is one of the best recruiters in college football. Would be phenomenal to bring him in as a position coach.
