How hard is it to hire a YES man to micromanage though? IF Pruitt was simply interested in hiring someone he could control it wouldn't be hard to hire someone to fit that bill.Lol no. Just reading between the lines. Like always UT is late to the prom. A lot of really good offense minds have been hired. And here we are. Zip
The latest that was reported was that he wouldn’t interview for an OC position. Only the HC. Course that was when he still had a job.Seriously? I recall nothing even suggesting the unacceptable attitudes/slurs you reference.
To me, Tee Martin is remembered as an all-time great VFL with a NC among his multiple achievements while in Knoxville. As a coach, his record has had mixed results. Nevertheless, it was reported that he was offered one or more opportunities during the last 20 years to come home as a coach and that the opportunities were declined for better offers elsewhere and so he and his family could stay in the Los Angeles area.
So, maybe I'm completely misinformed, but I think he was offered opportunities by UT and he chose to decline it (or them), as is his right. That choice does nothing to diminish his legendary role as a Vol.
Please explain.
My only issue with Monken is he has not been overly successful reaching Jameis Winston. Jameis has regressed quite a bit. He is currently ranked as the #16 QB in the NFL. As a caveat, I am not sure anyone could have done better, as Winston is his own worst enemy.
NO... Absolutely not.. Against unwritten VolNation rules.....So, plaintively asking...
Although I saw a few mentions, could we have some sort of discussion about Monken, who is in the thread title? Not about Tee, not about Pruitt, not about the long history of UT and coaches searches, but about Monken as a possible candidate?
I don't pay a lot of attention to pro ball, especially coaching staffs, so any summary including why he might be a good fit here would be gratefully appreciated.![]()
Essentially there's no chance. Monken will have plenty of NFL opportunities. Unless he just wants to come back to college. So, plaintively asking...

Those of you saying you don't want Tee here, you are insane. Tee would be a hell of a recruiter here. He's not going to come here as the lone OC. At best he might come in as a Co-OC, which very well could work, depending on who he is paired with.
