I actually have dealt with the cops quite a bit growing up in Birmingham. That didn't help my view of police as violent sociopaths to say the least.

Examples?

Murder? Rape? Grand larceny?

I lived in a money town and still dealt with them. Mississippi cops hated us because of where we were from.

Grow up man. Time to move on.

Your anger of cops from a young man has burned you from reality.

You're the same age as me and you're gonna tell me to grow up? Really?
The current system is nothing more than sanctioned violence and theft sponsored by the political ruling class and paid for by the tax payer. Doesn't matter if you like it or not. The reason you pay taxes isn't so that you can have roads or other such things, it's because if you don't, you'll go to jail.
You grow up and realize that YOU support this violence with your dollars, as well as your words.
Why do you drive the speed limit? Is it because that's the safest speed possible? No, it's because you're afraid. The state only takes, it's likened to a tick, it's useless without the host.

Actually, no. I have worked my ass off for everything I have. Besides, what does that have to do with anything?
Peaceful people should be left alone. No victim, no crime.

I just was wondering how much exposure to the police and the dregs of society you've had. I get the impression that some of the cop haters on VN have no realistic concept of what the cops actually deal with day in and day out.

I'm sure you're right, but some of us don't fit the description.

Everyone has said I always defend the cops because I've consistantly said its always the actions of an idiot that puts the anti-police propaganda videos in motion.

Flipping off cops, running from a traffic stop, throwing rocks, becoming verbally abusive, continuing to repeat ignorant ass statements about their rights and etc......it's pretty simple..... Don't be a fool and you probably won't ever have an issue with the cops.

Pretty simple rules actually.

I really wasn't referring to you ape.....there are some here that appear to have lived very sheltered lives and I've never gotten that impression from you.
Also, I'm not saying this is a bad thing

I personally like traffic laws, and I agree that taxation needs to happen....I do wish the govt was streamlined and budgeted better. People need laws bc they can't govern themselves.

Both groups offer valuable input, CP. Sometimes I don't comment because I feel my experiences have clouded my opinions too much to be rational. Maybe someone who hasn't seen as much **** could say it better.

I'm beginning to think being responsible for your own actions and accountable for said actions constitutes a "sheltered life".

Damn. The cops caught me screwing up a bunch.

Maybe..... But I think those that are sheltered tend to see any type of police violence as extreme because they've never been exposed to any type of thuggery.
Nobody likes getting harassed by the cops , but cops are just like doctors, pastors, drunk drivers and etc..... There are good ones.... And bad ones.... And the bad ones f*** it up for everybody.

That's not what I mean.... I'm talking about the kid that grew up in s nice area, with a nice family ..... Maybe went to private school ..... Never really got into fights or exposed to anything unsavory....

I agree....I get email updates from newspapers around the U.S. And it is amazing what goes on a daily basis. It earned me a new respect for cops...Cops are not without blame and the cop haters might have a point if most of their stuff didn't come from sites that flat out lies, has edited videos to show one point of view, tells half -truths, and only tell one side of the story. It's really hard to take it seriously.

The fact that they buy into it as the gospel while questioning every thing else is surprising

We have too many laws and the police over-zealously enforce those laws.

Open container, busted tail light, rolling stops, dark tinted windows, flipping off cops, eye rolling cops, selling loose cigarettes, behind on child support, reefer possession, not giving a cop your name when no crime has been committed, carrying too much cash... you see where I'm going?

So I noticed that somebody said RIP GV earlier. What's that about? Did he get banned or something?

Took his ball and went home. Guess this thread probably had a lot to do with it, he must have taken some stuff in here personally.

It's a shame, I always liked GV. Didn't agree with him all the time but I know he's intelligent and I value his opinion. But I also never pegged him for one to take this so seriously that it would cause him enough stress to leave, either. I reckon you never really know what's going on in someone else's noggin.

Huh... I didn't mind him for the longest time but he had become pretty insufferable recently. He would present his opinion on an issue and then would berate us like we were immature idiots for not instantly accepting it as fact. He was big on avoiding difficult questions and would would disregard your entire argument because he didn't like the way you worded something.

There was a time when his contribution would've been missed but he had become pretty mean and hateful recently and, in my opinion, had absolutely wore out his welcome.

Well, he probably recognized the things about his recent posts that you talked about and that was a contributing factor to his decision.

Wait a minute. There are good drunk drivers?

if people can't govern themselves, just who wrote the laws?
