How is wondering if he'd behave differently if there were consequences over the top?

Coward backed up by gang members....a tad over the top......the guy that flipped the bird was the one that instigated the situation and it was handled in a harmless manner....don't see the big deal

If you're dumb enough to flip off a cop then you deserve the consequences.... It's not rocket science.

It's no different than flipping off someone in traffic..... They might just ignore you, give you one back or they might follow you and beat your ass...

Whether the cop can legally do anything to you is beside the point.....the first thing that he thinks is " look at this smart ass MF here"

But remember the cop was the "douchebag".

The point is I have zero and I mean zero problem with what that cop did.....the guy was being a jack&ss and the cop called him on it....he didn't give him a citation, arrest him, beat him, tazer him or anything else....I know u feel it is a stepping stone to the cop doing some of the above but I do not.

He insulted the guy's girlfriend by claiming she was performing fellatio in the car when he knew damn well that was a bogus claim.

What are the consequences for flipping off a Piggly Wiggly cashier or a J.C. Penney cashier? Would their employers allow them to respond the way this cop did... or would they be dealt with (or possibly fired) on the spot?

It's human nature bro..... Don't try to make it more than it is

Do it to the wrong one and they might jump the counter and whip your ass

Were you expecting something along these lines?

I recall that piece catching a lot of fire some years ago for the idea of using the wasp spray as a weapon. But yes, I'm surprised a newscast would actually promote firearms use so readily.

Are you going to answer the question or still deflect? It is most certainly a valid comparison.

Sure.... A cashier at a grocery store to a cop.... I know the path you want to go down..... That if the customer gave the cashier the bird and the cashier responded by giving the customer a hard time they'd be fired.....maybe..... Maybe not . If I owned the store I don't want someone that treats my employees like that coming in. Has the employee worked for me a while? Do I know them to be a good employee in general? If so, I'd be more likely to side with them and tell the customer to take their business somewhere else.
I've done this more than once in my office.

Now I'd like you to tell me how the job duties of a cashier compare to those of a police officer?

A lot of you guys promote personal responsibility..... That is until the cops are involved.

That's hilarious cause there was only one person in that situation was free from responsibility for their actions.

If the kid had been free to leave with (a) no threat of violence or (b) an opportunity to defend himself if violence was used against him, then I absolutely wouldn't have cared.

For a civilian, it goes without saying that we should be accountable. We're asking for the cops to be personally accountable, as well. Its a two way street. Unfortunately, they seem to be accountable to no one.

He wouldn't have been able to walk away from the tongue lashing... you know good and damn well that those cops would have tried to pin a resisting arrest/fleeing the scene charge on him. That is why they so cleverly had the seat belt violation so quickly pulled out of their arses.

I don't care what you might have done "if" you would have run the store. I want you to give me the most likely outcome of an employee doing exactly what we saw these cops doing... and I had to pull it out of you, but you said fired... maybe. The "maybe" part is where you have other forms of discipline, but rest assured, there would have been some kind of disclipnary action. All people that work in the service industry know this. To bad the ones that "protect and serve" don't have that sort of fear hanging over them. And besides, you all are supposed to be the bigger man... I thought there was supposed to be some kind of honor in wearing and representing The Shield? What is that saying about arguing with a fool? Those cops just allowed themselves to look foolish themselves and disrespect their office by taking the bait like that.

Now I'd like you to tell me how the job duties of a cashier compare to those of a police officer?

Cashiers probably makes close to minimum wage, interact and deal with the public routinely, and have a low skill job that just about anyone with a pulse could do. Cops have the protection of a union and the backing of local, state and Federal institutions, interact and deal with the public routinely, and have a low skill job that just about anyone with a pulse could do.

I 100% support the cops approach....we will just have to disagree on this one
