They're called tourist tickets. They know you won't come back and fight it although you'd likely get it stricken from your record.

I've got a couple of those myself.

We need to be pissed about stuff like that not them enforcing valid laws....I do understand it though....I'm a manager and trying to come up with budgets sucks.

I'm not being confrontational here, it's orange and white gameday after all.
Now with that out of the way, you can have all the laws you want and people will still die on the highways. Its the nature of the beast. Driving is the most dangerous activity we all do a daily basis.
I take the stance that until an actual crime is commited, (damage to persons or property) people should be able to drive however they want.

That depends on the State though. Here in Oklahoma, I can tell if the have insurance by running their tag. It will also tell me for Texas. However, you're still required to have a paper copy.

Requiring people to have a paper copy even though can you tell they have insurance is absolutely absurd.

It's why u can't do a rolling stop....it increases the chances that u will be in a life altering accident....it only costs u a few seconds to come to a complete stop.

Not ensuring the road is clear increases the chances of an accident. The thing is... In many instances that can easily be accomplished by simply slowing down.

The person in your story obviously doesn't always ensure the turn is safe. How do we know stopping would've made a difference?

What do u do with the ones behind on child support.....those guys are the scum of the earth IMO.

Well first off, we don't (or at least are not supposed to have) debtor's prison in the US. Secondly, if some guy falls behind on child support, how is putting him in jail going to get you anymore money. If he goes to jail and looses his job in the process, how do you get more money. Lastly, it takes two people to create a child. Yet, the overwhelming number of times, it is the men who are victims of the court ordered payments, threatened with jail if they cannot keep up the payments, are not guaranteed the ability to see the kids, and have difficulty getting payments modified when their career/life situation changes. An irresponsible man has a child, he's threatened with jail and fines. An irresponsible woman has a child, she's given Section 8 housing, food stamps, utility assistance, medical assistance, etc.

Also didn't realize my insurance didn't pay if I didn't have that paper in my pocket when the wrecked happened. That's crazy...

Yeah, you would think all of that would shake out in the wash once it was time to start settling the wreckage. What difference does it make if it is on your person?

Just last night someone did that and killed a one yr.....isn't enforcing that law important?

So because of that one incident, it is justified to have cops handing out these trivia tickets?

How many people died yesterday because a driver spilled hot coffee on their lap and got distracted? Or was messing around with the radio/CD player? Lets limit some more liberties in the sake of safety in those cases, also.

You still haven't sold me on it.

That cop has put himself in more danger by approaching a car over such a trivial matter. Each time a cop goes up to a car window, he is increasing his odds of something bad happening. I'm for saving the lives of cops. Lets not put cops in a situation where they are going to encounter someone having a bad day and a weapon that is miffed because some cop decides to pull him over at 2:00 am for a rolling stop.

Nothing good happens after midnight.

That's the problem.....speeding is the number one cause of traffic fatalities in America and one of the leading causes of death.....if u have had defensive driving classes like I have for my numerous speeding tickets then u would know how excessive speed lowers your reaction time when things go wrong around u...

As for the rolling stop....just last night someone made a rolling stop in roane county and didn't see the other car coming and hit them in the side ramming their car into a tree killing a one yr old...how can a cop judge if u looked both ways while running the stop sign?

As for not having your insurance card....who doesn't know that u have to have a drivers license registration and your insurance card on u at all times.....wallets even come with slots made specifically for them....it sounds like u cost yourself a days pay not the cops.....The law is that way so that when u speed, make rolling stops, and any other unsafe actions that the other party that u hit will be covered.

What did those defensive driving classes tell you about the dangers of having dark tinted windows?

I'm a man that pays child support.... when I divorced my wife, I let her keep the house so it wouldn't effect my daughter. I paid child support without an agreement to increase the chances my daughter would be taken care of.....when we went to court my ex was telling me I would have to pay what the court ordered....she was pissed when my support went down bc I was paying too much...I pay what the court orders and any time my daughter calls needing anything from a field trip, school supplies, or anything else she needs and most of her wants that I deem appropriate...it's about the child and has nothing to do with what the woman does or does not do.....it sickens me that people don't love their children any more than they do.

And the charge??? Walking out on a $60 bar tab.

Should they just let stuff like this go? What if someone broke in your home and stole all your prized possessions, they were still in your driveway when the cops showed up, then the cops tell you "it's not worth the risk" just let them go. You're cool with that?

He should be arrested.

Does he deserve a busted spleen over a $60 bar tab?

What does love have to do with money? If the courts really cared about kids, they would mandate (and enforce) fathers spending a certain amount of time with their kids along with or instead of money.

Plenty of poor people are able to raise kids with very little money, so obviously, the money isn't the determining factor of what helps to raise a kid.
