Her laying down across his lap is officially against the law and so is sticking your arm out the window. Would u have rather them have given him a ticket?

Hand turn signals are still perfectly legal. If the cops were pulling everyone over for riding around with their blinker on then you might have a case.

She had her seat belt on didn't she?

You've got a handful of police officers rolling around town in a military vehicle and dressed up like G.I. Joe. In the middle of all this they decide to manufacture probable cause in order to illegally detain a citizen because they don't like that he flipped them the bird...

I think a few of you have some serious confusion regarding who the douchebag is in this situation.

Would the guy have been messed with at all if he wasn't flipping them off? I know some of u are extremely biased towards the police but it gets ridiculous something

I had a friend get an illegal use of a seatbelt ticket for the same thing....that cop was being a douche....this one not so much.

But that is the entire point. He wouldn't have, and that shouldn't have made any difference.

And judging by their reaction and response to this guy, I could only imagine what they were doing to initiate the guy shooting them the bird in the first place. I wonder how cocky and arrogant these guys would be if they were given one bullet in the revolver and a Dodge Diplomat instead of Iraqi surplus vehicles, body armor and assault weapons...

Your question couldn't possibly be more irrelevant, as flipping a police officer off isn't against the law.

Also... Lol at the idea that expecting law-enforcement officers to respect people's fourth amendment rights Is "ridiculous"?

You don't get free reign to be an idiot....these cops taught him a lesson in a pretty calm manner....I have no problem with it at all

Let me be clear, if this would have been a middle aged white guy wearing a suit driving any luxury car the stop (if they would have stopped him) wouldn't have lasted a minute.

It's funny how cops don't pull this BS with guys who can afford attorneys.

what fourth amendment rights did they violate?

Maybe....I have a bigger problem if the courts allow someone to sue over something as silly as this.

Would you mind pointing out where it states that cops are allowed to detain people in order to teach them personal lessons.

It doesn't say anything about stopping someone and talking to them outside their car.....If the cops had searched his car then you might have a case that they violated his fourth amendment rights.

How about is 1st Amendment right to free speech?

We are not idiots.....words that people use, gestures they make have consequences.....the guy was technically pulled over for the girl laying down and illegal hand signal which was the consequence of the guy using his free speech.....the cops didn't give him a ticket....pretty tame situation.

It isn't as if they were just having a conversation in a parking lot. The cop pulled him over.

being pulled over by the police is not covered in the fourth amendment....the guy was acting like an idiot and got called on it.....extremely tame incident to get riled up about.
