Too many laws or too many criminals...

All this started because she was (allegedly) going 39 in a 25. Really?

At the end, was it really worth it for the cops or the drivers?

You checked Tennessee laws for speeding lately? 40 in a 25 gets you in big trouble now.

Good lord. All that for doing 39 in a 25. Gotta love those quotas.

Really, is that what you got from this? "All that" stemmed from the fact that she refused to show a license, registration and proof of insurance. The only reason not to in this instance was because she didn't have a license, registration, or proof of insurance.

SMDH at you and the two that liked your post.

Once again, cop should have popped her with a taser when she refused to leave the car. She could have grabbed him while taking off and put him under the rear wheel. The cop was a dumbass for approaching a car still running.

Let me ask, is going after people going 15 miles over the limit worth these occasional chases and putting civilians and officers lives at risk?

I mean, in the grander scheme of things, is society being scourged by speeding drivers or by rapists, murderers and molesters? Pulling over people going 40 in a 25 or going 90 in a 75 for that matter isn't exactly heavenly work. Spare me any replies regarding safety and children. Other countries are not as aggressive about traffic as we are here because we primarily use traffic laws as a way to bring in revenue in this country, yet advertise and sell it as a way to make us safer.

You make this sound as if this is something new? Where have you been for the last 70 years or so? Besides, 15 over in a 25 is dangerous whether you want to believe it or not.

Or, you we have too many (trivial) laws. I mean really, 40 mph isn't exactly Bonnie and Clyde in a getaway car. I'm sure the streets are not at risk of having an uptick in 40 mph drivers killing and maiming folks.

Basically my reply to you is f off. I lived in a neighborhood where the speed limit was 25. Cars would break it coming down the hill up from the house. I have nearly been hit at my mailbox several times. This is a neighborhood with a single entrance and exit.

And I guess that is my point. Too many laws or laws that are too aggressively enforced for the sake of bringing in revenue.

Until she does something that damages life or property, no "crime" has been committed.

You are making TRUT look good now. What a moron. Yeah, let's wait until a kid gets run over in neighborhood until we charge someone with a crime.

And this goes to show your ignorance. Do you realize how many other violations, to include serious warrants, cops pick up on routine traffic stops?

Case in point, I pulled a guy over for doing eleven over and he had not only one, but two felony warrants for assault with a deadly weapon. I suppose I could have just let him slide since the traffic violation wasn't a big deal and all...

So traffic stops are actually throwing **** at a wall hoping something sticks?

So the years that your local city/county gets a boost in traffic tickets, do they mail you a tax refund?

You should want lower tyranny for all people, not tyranny on a select few for breaking petty, nonviolent violations.

That's why those petty nonviolent violations are a mail in ticket. She obliged the officer and elevated a traffic ticket to an arrest and jail time or at a minimum probation. Probably lost her husband his job too.

Whatever revenue the city/county would have gained is now wasted because you have one more person in the court system and the prison system.

In the grander scheme of things, writing that ticket probably cost Charleston $1 million dollars after all is said and done.

Dude, cops have gizmos and what not. I applaud you and Grand keeping up the good fight in this thread, but at some point you have to realize what you're arguing with.

My mistake Tim. You are entirely correct.

Are you ****ing serious? Please don't tell me your comprehension levels are that ****ing low.

Let me try again... if you did not say that a traffic stop is not slick way to find information on a citizen in hopes of possibly getting a hit, then what did you say? Clarify you position, don't just pout and act sanctimonious when we are only interpreting what you said.
