I had at least heard about the kid in Cleveland. And to be clear, I'm not moaning about unfair coverage disparity between blacks and whites for these types of stories. I think anytime an unarmed man is gunned down by police, it should make national news regardless of skin color. I wish there was a counter and a "-- days since the last police shooting of an unarmed victim" sign in the top right corner of every news channel. The American people need to know how common it is.
That is a subject for another thread.
This post was about the cops shooting an unarmed man. Care to respond on that subject first? Then you can create another thread that discusses the driver's actions leading up to the shooting.
What exactly does this mean?im not defending the cops shooting the guy..... But had the guy obeyed the law he wouldn't have put himself in that situation would he?
Yeah, but did you hear about it here from me? I don't know of anyone that had heard about it until I brought it up. Not saying no one on VN heard about it, just my friends and relatives that I've asked.
That's not useful to say. It may hold some truth, but it's like an alcoholic father saying the beating his son just took wouldn't have happened if he didn't catch him with a dimebag. The father is still by far the most culpable party and the bigger bad guy.
I don't want to defend the driver, I want to defend the country from fascism. These police were literally the judge, jury, and executioner. If that's the society you believe we need, then defend the cops.
Sure it's useful..... Had the dumbass not led police on a high speed chase nearly killing some innocent people he wouldn't have created the situation.
Do you not think his actions had anything to do with his demise?
I'm not saying the cops are innocent because it looks excessive as hell to me, but I doubt they'd have gunned him down if he was just cruising Sonic.
Just as a matter of asking, are there any other press releases or coverage on this?
You know me, I like to get all the facts before making a judgment.
I only found a few articles on Google. And the first and only coverage I had heard was from Adam Carolla on his podcast. Not exactly far reaching wide spread news.
3 LAPD officers who fired at unarmed driver in car chase are taken off duty | 89.3 KPCC
Of course they did, but that's an obvious statement and beside the point. If a cop shoots me because I bought raw milk, I wouldn't have been shot if I weren't breaking the law, but there is no reason for pointing that out. Hence, useless.
So buying raw milk equates to ramming a car? You cannot seperate one from another because they're happening at the same time. A better example would be for you to watch someone walk up to 10 people in a row and kick them in the nuts. When he walks up to you next what do you plan to do?

Pardon me if I hardly feel sorry for this guy.
Why are you mixing emotions into this logical discussion? This has nothing to do with your emotional attachment or lack thereof with the man that was gunned down. The question is, are you categorically against unarmed people, who(by the looks of the video) no longer pose a threat to anyone in the area, being gunned down by police? If you aren't categorically against it, you are in favor of fascism.
No obviously I am not as I would venture to say most on this board are not. However, the fact remains that had this individual not chosen to go down the path he chose the outcome might have been different. This is not to say that the officers did not make a mistake and I'm not exactly sure of all the details. Was there confusion on whether he was armed or not? I don't know. It's easy to sit back from a far and judge these things with a microscope when we are not the ones put into these types of situations. I'm sure the cops are not happy they shot an unarmed person. I'm sure it is not the highlight of their day by any means. Sucks for everyone involved. That being said there is still an element of personal responsibility that needs to be addressed and that seems to be a common factor with all of these recent officer involved shootings.
