There is no 'War on Cops'"; There is a Long-Overdue Conversation About Police Brutality
The increasingly bad image of police around the country is their fault and nobody else's.

As much as I tried to be balanced and open to reading the article, I stopped after I finished the title and opening line.

The author starts off by saying the death of HCSO deputy Goforth was tragic but in the next paragraph blames law enforcement for recent upswing in violence against LEO.

That article serves zero purpose.

But seriously, how long will it be before yelling and screaming at a ballgame is a jail worthy offense?

Funny you should say that. Several years ago when our son was playing travel ball the home plate ump (terrible ump) who was also a cop threatened to have a mom arrested for yelling at him. She wasn't cursing just being louder and more relentless than the rest of us.

Have a recent experience with "to protect and serve"..

My parent's live in a nice neighborhood in Myrtle Beach, SC. Across the street its become apparent that the neighbor is dealing drugs out of their house. A constant flood of vehicles show up for around 5 minutes a pop starting at around 2pm until the AM. My dad video taped a confrontation in the neighbors front yard where you can see a MAC-10 and an AR-15. Cops called..showed up 3 hours later, told parents they know all about the people in the house, refuse to do anything.

What the F.

Next time he should call and tell them there are illegally parked cars on the street. They will be there in 2.5 minutes to issue parking tickets.

Could be part of an ongoing investigation. If they are trying to identify the suppliers and whatnot, the department might not want the beat cops rolling in.

I must say that's one of the top 5 most depressing things I've ever watched.

I don't necessarily disagree but I've seen some very encouraging things lately. Law enforcement is loosing support by the minute. As a result you're going to start seeing a lot more citizen interference in situations like a lot on these. People aren't gonna just idly stand by anymore.

Basically this pretend war on police they like to parade around isn't gonna be so pretend anymore real soon. I have a feeling being a police is about to actually start being a dangerous job. That's very encouraging to me. Not cause I want anyone to get hurt but because once that happens maybe they'll start leaving people the f*** alone. And if they don't, maybe they'll be taught real quickly that they should've.

Yeah, getting killed obviously teaches them to leave well enough alone.

How's that working out in Baltimore where the police have backed off "messing" with people?

And don't pretend you'd shed one bloody tear over dead cops. You'd enjoy reading about it and cheer on the killers for sticking it to the man. Because you're "encouraged" by the fact some would be killed to get the others to back off.

James Blake, ex-tennis star, mistakenly arrested in New York - BBC News

New York City police officers have mistakenly detained a former professional tennis player as he waited for a car to take him to the US Open.

James Blake told the New York Daily News that a group of five plainclothes officers slammed him to the ground and held him for 15 minutes on Wednesday.

The police said in a statement that the officers mistakenly believed he was a suspect in a theft case.

Once it was determined that Mr Blake was not the suspect, he was released.
Mr Blake, 35, said he suffered a cut on his arm and bruises on his legs. He said the officers did not speak to him before they pushed him to the ground.

"You'd think they could say: 'Hey, we want to talk to you. We are looking in to something'," Mr Blake told the Daily News.

"You would think at some point they would get the memo that this isn't OK, but it seems that there's no stopping it."
Mr Blake, who is black, said race may have contributed to the incident. All of the officers were white.

However he said his primary concern was with the amount of force used.

"In my mind there's probably a race factor involved, but no matter what there's no reason for anybody to do that to anybody," he told the Daily News.

Shouldn't have been waiting there? Asking for trouble?

You would think so wouldn't you? Like I said... It may be 6 months or it be be 5 years but that "memo" is about to start being being delivered in a way that's far less easier to ignore.

And trust me... There's definaty a way to stop it. Now I'd love to see that happen without anybody getting as much as a stubbed toe. Unfortunately, politely asking fascist to not be fascist doesn't exactly have a strong track record throughout history. Unfortunately, once society has officially had enough there will most likely be quite a few LEO who have to learn that the hard way.

My dad already identified the supplier. A car shows up once or twice a month with miami-dade county Florida plates, spends the night, leaves. Pretty sure it's not LaQuontavious visiting his dad..

But I chalked it up to either an ongoing investigation (the cops knew all the residents names and aliases) or they are just super lazy.

We'll go with super lazy just to make others around here happy.

dear lord, I haven't read an article filled with so many straw men since I read an RT article. No one is saying empower the government, more like "be very very very careful of what you wish for." at least the author admits there will be more failures and suffering under anarchy than what we have.

this in particular is clueless.
Those trillions of dollars wasted in the past, today and surely tomorrow never had to leave the pockets of a single human being to make the world more civilized.
yet if we aren't paying the government we have to pay someone else, a company in this case, to do it for us. so yes the money still does have to leave our pocket.

Absent obedience, how could any state function?
really? you could say this about anything, and it would be true. not quite the "gotcha" they are looking for.

not going to pick through every line of that. because i don't have the time, and you wouldn't listen anyway.

yeah, haven't you been watching all the videos of guys calling for the deaths of cops, burn down the establishment with the people inside, and so on and so forth. not saying i believe there is a "war" on cops. but certain individuals and groups have been particularly, whats the word I am looking for, violent against cops in speech and action. you cant say the constant attention and exploitation of these terrible events isn't happening.

Sure the money would leave our pockets, the difference is, it won't be stolen through taxation. You would voluntarily pay and choose who would provide the services.

There is nothing even partially resembling voluntary about the current system. Oh sure, you can choose not to pay your taxes, armed men will show up to haul you away.

Will there be problems? Of course, no one ever claimed there wouldn't be.

On a side note, I just love the argument that humanity cannot live without government because people are evil, vicious criminals. Yet, it's people who are in government. The worst of humanity I might add.

I agree. It's always funny when they claim we want violence against cops, when it's the cops that have killed upwards of 800 people so far this year. So who are the violent criminals again?

Without a reexamination of our current laws the situation will only get worse. People claim that the cop is only doing their job. Yet, it's their job to ruin people's lives for exercising their own volition. But, you cannot fix government with government. What we are seeing now is a result of the 150+ years of policing in this country. This is what the so called reforms have gotten us. Until preventive policing is abolished, nothing will change.

So go out, buy a gun and kill a few cops if you think that will help start your little revolution and open people's eyes. Don't be an online ***** that just talks, sack up and take action. You're so convinced killing cops will make the rest back off, go kill a few and start your little revolution so society will follow. You are convinced people are sick and tired of all cops being fascist and all. You might as well be remembered as the guy that started the revolt against the fascist state.

Actually, I consider you one of the more rational posters in this thread. (believe it or not)

I don't see you making veiled comments like:

It may be 6 months or it be be 5 years but that "memo" is about to start being being delivered in a way that's far less easier to ignore.

Especially in light of something like this going on:

WHAT: On 9/2/2015, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement reported that a recent nationwide social media movement known as F*** YO FLAG (#FYF911) is currently gaining nationwide momentum. An associated radio broadcast detailed derogatory rhetoric against law enforcement personnel and called for “black activists” to conduct “lynching and hanging of white people and cops.”

On 9/5/2015, the Stillwater Police Departed reported information had been received from at least three sources that small groups of black males were overheard in two separate public locations making threats to kill police officers this weekend. Sources reported that the following statements were overheard.

• “Stillwater is going to be in the national media this weekend because cops are gonna die.”
• “We are going to ****-up the police and shoot them up this weekend in Stillwater.”
• “We are going to go on a shooting spree of all cops.”

You may have some goofy political views, but even you know that violence against LEOs is not going to end well for anyone involved. The "people" won't have a great awakening and start to tar and feather cops just because. If cops start getting specifically targeted, they aren't just going to back off. They will get far more jumpy, more on edge and far more willing to err on the side of caution when going into a potentially dangerous situation.

You're a smart guy DTH. And deep down you know where this path leads even if you won't admit it.
