She should have refused to go into the apartment and said "hell, I don't have a clue how my purse got there, just dropping friends off, see ya!".

She absolutely should not have said that. Worse than telling the cop your version of the story, is telling the cop a false version of the story. That could have gotten her in much bigger trouble. That's why you simply clam up until you have representation.

You're right. Would have been best to just refuse to go inside the apartment.

how can there be a "bad neighborhood" directly across the main street from the shiny new 10 million dollar police station we can't afford? If there is dope being sold over there enough to make it a bad hood then why don't they spend every waking minute over there instead of setting up speed traps half a mile up the road where they can hide their cars in the bushes when the speed limit abruptly drops by 15mph (its a speed trap) are they scared to do the hard part of being a cop and kick in doors and grab thugs selling dope? are they just lazy and they would rather sit in their car on facebook trying to cheat on their wives until the radar beeps with a big speeding ticket? is there any excuse for being a dick to somebody who has done nothing but 'sir' them since he got pulled over? i am done with them. its all i can do to teach my kids to treat the police with respect knowing that most of them around here do not deserve it at all......

Exactly. Whether right or wrong, the appearance, anyway, is cops don't really care about stopping the crime where it happens, its trying to catch people after the fact under premises of a traffic stop. The result is a bunch of innocent people get harassed while the drug dealers are still on the street corner slinging dope.

I'm sorry, but the the whole all cops are doing the best they can, we don't know what they had to deal with that day, its a hard job, dealing with the public is frustrating, and not wanting to be filmed is all just BS. You signed up for it and its a public service job. Get off your lazy arse and stop being ticket commandos and go actually stop crime.

Sometimes its just that simple. Otoh, what would've been gained by one of your passengers becoming confrontational? Is it their right, maybe, but what is gained by it?

I have been back reading through this thread. Your entire attitude can be described in one word.... Communist. You are a creature of the state, nothing more, nothing less.

That's awesome. It should be illegal in every state for police to use completely unmarked cars to pull people over in a non-emergency situation.

Petty law doesn't apply to LEO. We all know this.

They have tickets/citations to hand out to the rest of us and property to seize and charge with a crime. You know, the really important stuff. Much more effective to hide in the bushes when you don't have to have a car marked.

Jeff, I totally agree. However, the suicidal man did not call 9-1-1 emergency. It was the Suicide Hotline that notified 9-1-1, and they are stupid for doing it. My advice to depressed people who are considering suicide is never to call the Suicide Hotline. I have had my own experience with being suicidal. I called the Hotline, they notified police. I was taken to a medical/psychiatric facility. The outcome: Well, I am still alive, but the whole thing earned me a $10,000 bill from the health facility, for emergency transportation and emergency room medical, since I had no insurance. Guess what I was so depressed about? Answer: Mainly finances. ;)
