Do we need reform, absolutely. But defunding police is a horrible idea for multiple reasons.

And if you feel it a violation of rights to be pulled over for a legitimate reason then I would say you are part of the problem as well. Officers are trained to ask questions and often find other more serious crimes when they get out with someone. If they take an illegal firearm, drugs, drunk drivers it what have you off the streets then it is a win. I would argue a good portion of the time those simple equipment citations aren't issued especially when the person has a good attitude and isn't confrontational. In my experience you get what you give most of the time when dealing with police, not always but most of the time.

If I make a large error in my field of work than I can face fines, being sued, and prison time why should law enforcement be any different?

I never said anything about defunding law enforcement.

Violating the constitutional rights of citizens to take marijuana off the streets shouldn’t be the goal of law enforcement officers. They use a frivolous tag light law to violate the 4th amendment. I’m courteous to law enforcement officers also but in every traffic stop situation they try to violate my constitutional rights.

Someone died and the cop was charged with murder. How many Americans have been charged with murder?

Whether you agree with the charges or not the cop is still protected by the 6th amendment right that guarantees a trial with an impartial jury.

Why are we picking when under the law and the DA's own words this was a justified shooting. The point is advocating for justice isn't it? You can't advocate for justice while denying it to others, it makes you wrong every time.

So the Illinois State Trooper is claiming this was all over an air freshener hanging on a rear view mirror. if that is the case, this makes it far, far worse of a reaction than expired tags or a stolen vehicle.

Hamilton County prosecutor asks TBI to investigate beating of Black man by sheriff's deputies

For five-and-a-quarter minutes, deputies beat Arrington and held him to the ground, the video shows.

Arrington's limp body is then picked up and placed in the back of a patrol vehicle.

Arrington was charged with resisting arrest, simple assault on police, criminal impersonation, pedestrian in roadway and four counts of aggravated assault on police. All of the charges were dropped on Tuesday by Pinkston.

Choppy video? Played fine for me. They did place him under arrest for walking on the wrong side of the road. As three officers escorted him to the squad car in cuffs, the video shows the perp appearing to turn to the officer on his left. We can't see what his hands are doing, but it does appear his arms are restrained. After he turned to his left, the beating began. He was in cuffs the entire time and flailing his legs. It looked like one officer was on top of him on the ground the entire time, and the other officers had to beat him strategically with their batons to avoid contacting the officer.

Sheriff is saying that perp tried to unholster a deputy's weapon. The video doesn't definiteively show what happened one way or the other. But the DA asked the TBI to get involved, and all the charges were dropped.

Thank God this dangerous criminal was taken off the road for walking on the wrong side of the street.

Just another frivolous stop that resulted in police brutality.

He was arrested because you can't cite someone who commits the offense of criminal impersonation when you know they are lying about their true identity, as they obviously won't show to go to court. He looked to be clearly exhibiting some kind of mental/drug issue, as well as was the reason 911 was called on him in the first place. But hard to tell from the video about the grabbing the officer's firearm. If he did it would explain how the other officer panicked and went straight to baton.

If he grabbed the officer's weapon, the only thing i could see being improved here is a bit of officer training in how they were walking him to the cruiser to begin with. IMO due to his behavior, he should've been cuffed and searched while being detained rather than letting him rummage through his own pockets like that. Too many red flags (and no race is not one of them)
