To Protect and to Serve II

Ross Ulbricht - Wikipedia

Ulbricht was convicted of money laundering, computer hacking, conspiracy to traffic fraudulent identity documents, and conspiracy to traffic narcotics by means of the Internet in February 2015. He is currently serving a double life sentence plus forty years without the possibility of parole. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit upheld the conviction and sentence in May 2017. The Supreme Court of the United States declined to hear a further appeal in June 2018. The Maryland prosecution dismissed with prejudice a five-year old pending indictment in July 2018.

I’m surprised they convicted her of murder instead of manslaughter. Based on the info I’ve read and video I’ve seen, I don’t think it was an intentional act...... careless as hell though
Stupid is as stupid does. I've walked into many a house sober and not on drugs and never confused one for my own.

Exactly. Where was the "malice aforethought"?

Haters will focus on the 10 year sentence. Easy to say when you don't have to serve it. She'll be in near-total isolation from Day 1 to Day last. Being a former LEO in prison is a death sentence looking for a place to happen.

Justice isn't blind, ever. At best, it's nearsighted.

It’s not that cut and dried.... investigators interviewed approximately 290 residents that live in the complex where the shooting occurred and around 90.... practically 1/3 of those interviewed said they too had gone to the wrong floor and stuck their key in the door.

How many of those people shot and killed the person inside?

Fort Worth Officer Kills Woman In Her Bedroom In Response To 'Open Structure Call'

Around 2:25 a.m., officers responded to an "open structure call" made by a neighbor to the police department's nonemergency number. Inside the home, Atatiana Jefferson, 28, and her 8-year-old nephew were playing video games.
Body camera footage released by the police shows the officer outside the home, looking into Jefferson's bedroom window and shouting, "Put your hands up! Show me your hands!" before firing a single bullet that killed Jefferson.
...
According to a police news release, when the officer was searching the perimeter of Jefferson's house, the officer noticed a person inside and standing near the window, which police say was perceived as a threat. That is when the officer drew his weapon, ordered Jefferson's hands up and shot.
I would say "unbelievable," but...

Don't leave your front door open and stand by a window in your home.
