To Protect and to Serve II

We actually had a similar situation the other night. One of our directed patrol units attempted to stop a car that was known to have drugs and also matched the description of a vehicle in a shooting a few weeks prior. Lights em up, car slow rolls the stop then takes off.

We have a very strict pursuit policy, basically we only pursue if body parts are flying out of the car, they're shooting at us or the public, or, to a certain extent, if they're possibly drunk...

Anyway, vehicle stays in view, he remains stationary, but calls out location, direction of travel then calls out that they're wrecked out on a utility pole and there are 2-3 subjects running. I make contact with one of the runners in the backyard of one of the houses down the street, get him at gun point...

He has an 18 month in his hands. Holster up. I have my rookie pat him down for weapons, he's clean....but then he proceeds to yell and scream and lecture us about why we're chasing him... not gonna lie, I lost my sh** on him. Just couldn't handle that crap from someone who ran with a child in their hands.

Here's the thing...we couldn't determine who was driving. Vehicle was CLEAN. We detained everyone but didn't have any charges at that point.

...until 3 hours later when the vehicle was reported stolen.

So now we're going through the DA and indicting everyone in the car.

There was an incident on Live PD a few months ago where they had to fight a guy who had his child in his hands. LEO was able to get the child away safe but, that's all I kept thinking about while we were out with this POS. I'd have been happy to go hand-to-hand with this dude but not with a child in his arms. It's a situation that was completely new to everyone there, that included veteran officers with 15+ years experience.

I don't know if we have a policy on it but, I'm going to check...hope I never have to deal with that again.
I watch Live PD a lot. One of my favorite shows. I think I saw that episode. Is it the one where the car rolled and the guy jumps out and drags his baby out with him? I think they got them separated and a good samaritan grabbed the child. I think it was in South Carolina if I'm not mistaken. Watching that stuff live is pretty amazing. I also like the new show that Sticks host, PD Cam. It's remarkable what some of you guys encounter. I've said this before, I have several really good friends that are LEO. They are good dudes. I am sure there are some bad ones and I have encountered a few that had attitudes when they didn't need to. The one's I know would give you the shirt of their back.

Several years ago I was playing golf on a Saturday morning with a friend. When I left that morning my 6 YO daughter wasn't feeling well and had a fever. My wife said go ahead I'll run her to the doctor. About halfway through the round she called and said that the pediatrician was very concerned and instructed her to drive her to children's hospital (He was concerned that it might be meningitis). The friend I was playing with was also friends with this cop friend of mine. Unbeknownst to me he had called our cop friend. By the time we got our clubs in the car he rolls in and gives us a police escort to the hospital. He didn't have to do that but that's the kind of guy he was.

You guys take a lot of crap both here and on the job and I appreciate what you do.

No way is that story the truth. I’m guessing she was having an affair with one or both of the fellow officers, something went south and they murdered her. And even if it wasn’t an affair, I still think they murdered her.

It’s bizarre because I saw something saying they were on duty in another part of town and basically away from their posts... playing Russian roulette?

In my mind, there’s a spectrum of bad behavior that is typical of badly behaving police officers. Doing something that could get you fired isn’t outside the spectrum but usually the motive is something that has a greater perceived benefit than Russian roulette.

Maybe I’m wrong, it just seems incongruent that somebody would be across town while on the clock for something as trivial as that.

How big of a knuckle dragging, mouth breathing, gas sniffing dolt do you have to be to think Russian roulette is even remotely a good idea?

Houston PD was serving drug warrant when multiple suspects opened fire on officers. Some reports stating at least 3 of the officers are dead. 2 suspects dead.

You finished the round first, I hope?

Here is an update. Check out the booking photo. He has a black eye.
Something bad went down and the RR story is BS.

She was married but in the guy's apartment at 1:00 in the morning? I smell a big pile of Russian roulette BS

Alix was off duty at the time of the shooting, police said. Hendren and his partner were on duty. All three were in Hendren's apartment shortly before 1 a.m.

Don't see a police thread. 5 officers were sent to a drug warrant in Houston and were shot. Gives you an idea of what was wrong with the Stone raid (29 agents, 17 cars with two armored, and a helicoptor) and going after drug dealers(5 officers).

Anyhoo, here's what the Houston police officer Union President said.

Nobody got shot during the Stone raid did they?
