I was referring to the Chicago incident. Turns out I was wrong and the officer was convicted of second degree murder.

They don't cover the good ones who did their job and end up dead. It's pretty much a travesty. We have some good police here who never get recognized for doing their job with compassion. I dropped a good comment on the web site about the officer that responded to my daughter's accident Monday. She was a blubbering mess and he handled it with grace and was kind to her. I don't think they hear they are appreciated enough. RIP to this officer and my thoughts are on his family and their healing.

Not 100% on topic but:

For the past two years, Chattanooga Police and DAs have been trying to create an injunction within the city to prohibit individuals that they believe to be in a gang from doing otherwise legal activities in the East Lake area of Chattanooga.

I haven’t read the order yet but a Chattanooga Judge this week tossed the case saying DA hadn’t proven that the individuals it sought to enjoin were part of the problem.

East Lake is a terrible neighborhood and I feel bad for people who have to live amongst that. I also can’t blame “the man” for wanting to do something about it.

That said, if you look closely at the case you see a glaring problem with the idea of police gathering intelligence and assigning a status to certain individuals: they’re not good at it.

One of these days, such a douchebag will run into a cop without as much patience as that officer showed. And people will scream about how "bad" cops are getting these days.

Meh... so what is that next cop with a shorter fuse going to do? Arrest him for just running his mouth or pop a cap in a civilian?

What exactly will the next guy ly do that we should be warned about?

Were the two cops not professional, restrained and completely in order?

The question you should be asking is "why are those two acting like a complete and utter a-holes and what set them off?"

And who knows what the next cop with a shorter fuse is going to do. That's the point. A person goes off like that and they can find themselves getting tazed, sprayed or smacked with a baton repeatedly.

They're walking a fine line of disorderly conduct but it seems to me that they're smart enough to know where that line is, and know not to step across it. Police are in a no-win situation in cases like this.

I don’t think it’s super bright to say “you’re going to see what I’m going to do” to a cop.

I can’t imagine how miserable your life is that **** like this makes you feel good. They’re clearly frustrated with their station in life and so they cuss out cops to make themselves feel like they have control over something.
