To Protect and to Serve II

If they have probable cause no. Now what constitutes probable cause is an entirely different debate.

It is extremely easy for cops to pass anything off as PC, and in the few scenarios where even they can't muster up an excuse, they can just lie. Your word vs theirs. Stop and frisk, checkpoints and no knock entry are violations of our rights. With that understanding, they are not separate debates.

I don't agree with that in alot of cases, however if and when it effects me I'll address it through the channels afforded to me at the time

Wait until it effects you?

First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out..

Not to mention that, in regards to no-knock raids, there's a strong possibility you won't be around to address it after the fact.

They don't need PC. If you are holding a highway checkpoint, aren't you essentially assuming everyone on the highway is a potential suspect?

Oh but wait... driving is not a right, but a privilege.

What exactly do you suggest anybody do about it?

I understand by law driving is a privilege.

...but after I pay taxes that go to roads, taxes on fuel, pay fees for a license, pass a test, buy insurance required by law, and in some states pay for mandatory safety and emission inspections....it sure feels like it should be my right that I’ve rightfully earned. In as such, if I get pulled over or that right is to be taken away, they better have a damn good reason for doing so, and I don’t think checkpoints qualify.

Obviously. And you seem to be fine with the state being involved with every aspect of your life. It’s quite pathetic.

fine with it? I guess I am fine with it as much as I am the chronic knee pain I deal with every day. much better than getting hooked on pain meds for the rest of my life on something that doesn't fix the real problem.

I work in an industry where the private individual is the source of sleaze. I put zero trust in the individual, the government usually at least tries to do things the right way. doesn't always happen of course.

For the record, the rifle of the Swiss during the time of WW2 was the K31 “Schmidt Rubin” rifle. Those were kept at home by the citizens.

I will say, as much as most here seem to love government, if we were invaded, y’all would likely feel right at home with yet another states boot on your throat.

hardly. most of us here aren't comfortable calling people Nazis just because they wear a uniform. that line of thinking is very very very totalitarian.

punish the bad actors, accept that there are good ones. America is uniquely able to adjust itself vs the population. you don't find that elsewhere. work to get the change, don't go insecure dictator on us by labeling a group enemies of the people because you might disagree with them.

The 2016 Chicago Homicide Spike - Explained - Volokh Conspiracy : Reason.com

As the Chicago Tribune reported this morning, University of Utah Economics Professor Richard Fowles and I have just completed an important article on the 2016 Chicago homicide spike. Through multiple regression analysis and other tools, we conclude that an ACLU consent decree trigged a sharp reduction in stop and frisks by the Chicago Police Department, which in turn caused homicides to spike. Sadly, what Chicago police officers dubbed the "ACLU effect" was real—and more homicides and shootings were the consequence.

Not a good look for the FBI...

Orlando nightclub shooter's father was a secret FBI informant, officials reveal | Fox News

Pulse gunman's father was an FBI informant under criminal investigation, attorneys say - CNN

The Orlando nightclub terrorist's dad was a secret FBI informant for more than a decade, prosecutors revealed, prompting questions about whether authorities may have missed warning signs leading up to the massacre.

The news, disclosed Saturday to lawyers representing the Pulse nightclub shooter's wife, Noor Salman, in her own terrorism case related to the attack, also led to immediate calls by the defense for a mistrial.

"Seddique Mateen was a FBI confidential human source at various points in time between January 2005 and June 2016,” the defense lawyers, in a court document filed Sunday, quoted Assistant United States Attorney Sara Sweeney as saying in a letter.

The crap you and Ras and the rest of the cop haters are constantly whining about. You really think crying like a bunch of petulant 2 year olds on a message board is going to change anything?

I am a cop hater because I disagree with stop and frisk? Checkpoints? There are many folks that do not agree with those methods, are they cop haters too? Or is it just easier to label someone a hater instead of actually making an argument of your own, like a teenage girl would?

Address my points, that was just a defeated outburst.

What do you think is the solution? Is voting or getting the right candidate in office the fix?

I don't know what the answer is. I do know that getting belligerent with a cop, or refusing to comply isn't going to end well. I also know that complaining on a message board might make people feel better, but it isn't going to change anything.

So you are criticizing us for commenting on a meesageboard?

I guess I don't understand your angle when you are doing the exact same thing.

I have a feeling most law enforcement officers, if asked if they are willing to die today, to take my gun, most are going to say it's not worth it. You can go about your life and go home to your family, or, you can die today because of a paycheck.....which choice is more likely?

I would mostly agree. That being said, this guy teaches criminal law to future police at a community college. How many people has he indoctrinated with his tyrannical beliefs?

I would hope that any indoctrinated officer would revert back to self preservation. I would hope that these officers who would be sent out to confiscate would be willing to die to carry out this order, because that is what will be needed, because me and many like me will make it very simple, I'm willing to die today to protect this idea and ideal, are you?

How much is it worth to you? Is it worth dying, or killing for? If they answer yes, then I at a minimum will respect that they are willing to give the ultimate sacrifice for their belief, just as I am.
