To Protect and to Serve II

If you're looking for "bargain" with decent quality, I'd check out LA Police Gear (just hold your nose at the word "police")

LA Police Gear

Generally pretty good quality for what you pay for.

When it comes to nylon though, my first stop is Tactical Tailor. Sometimes Maxpedition (though I hate their goofy color patterns) but overwhelmingly if TT doesn't make it, chances are it's not needed.

I've got all the stuff I'll ever really need. I was just poking at you about the 5.11 stuff. I know how cops and the tactical crew love that stuff. I've actually got a lot of stuff from tactical tailor over the years. They were the only game in town for a long time.

Check out this plate carrier though, it's the one we sent with my friend to Afghanistan. I've had mine for a few years and when used in conjunction with their plates, it's not as bad weight wise as you'd guess.

I argued for years we needed to go to a plate carrier with the SAPI plates as opposed to that goofy Interceptor carried in a bag. As patrol rifles were standard, it made sense to have something to toss over the top of an already worn Level 3A vest instead of a double layer of Level 3A and plates.

Never got anywhere.

Are you in "personal security" ?

Just curious why you would need that vest....

Is this what you're talking about? If so, that's horrible. I know I love my pig, more importantly a certain young man and several of his mates love theirs as well.

Because i can. Not being a smart ass, everyone should have some kind of armor. (Before it gets banned)

I take a lot of training classes and you have to have somewhere to put your mags and other stuff, the plate carrier sans plates for training works out well for me.

Yeah, making a long story short, we were required to wear a second chance vest (good idea) on a daily basis but to have "body armor" to include a helmet readily available in case of emergency. (good idea as well)

The bad idea was when someone said "isn't it kind of silly to wear a second chance vest underneath a vest that's already rated as a Level 3A?" Answer?

"Double the protection is better." Of course, coming from someone who never wore the **** in the first place.

So instead of buying plate carriers and using the pouches we were already issued to strap on the 5.56 load needed for the patrol rifle, we ended up having a second chance vest, Interceptor Body Armor and another set of 5.56 gear that went on over the top of the standard duty belt.

Interesting. That had to be a hell of a load.

DTH, I swear, no sooner was I about to reply to you, I got a DV call with a dude who spouted off some of the exact same things you said on here.

I had to ask if he was a UT to make sure it wasn't you.

Notre Dame fan.

Kept telling me to back up...and he was our victim.

Did you beat him up? Is that why he was your "victim"?

I'm truly sorry you fail to understand true freedom. Maybe one day you will. I'll be around.

Nope. Believe it or not, those of us in "the most immoral profession" can have interactions with complete a-holes and not "beat them up" or even threaten to beat them up.

...and I'm sorry that you live in a time where Americans have the most independence and freedom to be who they are, be with who they want to be with and practice whatever doctrine or dogma they feel like, more than any other time in history, but still moan about "not being free." You're free to do whatever the crap you feel like, just don't complain when you have to reap the consequences.

Kelly Thomas sure reaped the consequences.

The system and the "brotherhood" protects bad cops more often than not. I'm sure you believe you all value integrity but the results don't show that's most often the case.

This brotherhood is forged out of having the same experiences, sharing some really good ones and experiencing some really f'ing bad situations, together. You tend to have the back of the person who has yours.

I've said it before, a fellow officer can serve with distinction for decades and then lose everything with one instance of some poor judgment.

And then there's the a-holes in blue that do everything to perpetuate these stereotypes (and they ARE stereotypes) about cops. F those guys.
