To Protect and to Serve II

It's a big country Huff and although I feel sorry for the family of this man there are a lot of things that happen that you can't anticipate or fix. Thousands of people die every day from drug overdoses, car wrecks and murders.
Exactly. What he should’ve done is run away as soon as they approached his vehicle. Don’t ever ever ever go somewhere with a criminal with a gun. Your chances of being killed go up astronomically

Yeah why didn’t he think of that?
Situational awareness and preparing for the worst keeps these things from being worse than they are. I teach it everyday to both law enforcement and non law enforcement. Too many people bebop thru their day unaware of danger around them

He probably shouldn't have agreed to the search.
Damned if you don't, danned if you do...

I guess most people assume that if you cooperate with LEOs that the repercussions would be less. If something like this occurs, however, what incentive would civilians have to cooperate with cops in the future?

I have nothing in my car and still wouldn't allow a search... Advice from my sergeant buddy.

Ps i don't break the law either... That always helps.

Or you know. Don’t commit crimes

That is an arrestable offense. I wasn’t commenting on the seriousness of the crime
Or you could take the drugs from him, dump them down a storm drain and let him go about his business. The taxpayers would thank you because that's one less jail cell that is occupied... plus you did your duty and got some drugs off the streets.

You can’t dump narcotics down a storm drain. It could affect the city’s water supply. Taxpayers don’t want drug dealers out on the streets. Hate to tell you

Decriminalize the Average Man | Wendy McElroy

If you reside in America and it is dinnertime, you have almost certainly broken the law. In his book Three Felonies a Day, civil-liberties lawyer Harvey Silverglate estimates that the average person unknowingly breaks at least three federal criminal laws every day. This toll does not count an avalanche of other laws — for example misdemeanors or civil violations such as disobeying a civil contempt order — all of which confront average people at every turn.
