There's a lot to be said for personal accountability but I see some issues.

1. Would individual cops be able to even afford such insurance?

2. This would add another layer in that insurance lawyers would now be added to the people fighting for claims.

Most officers already have legal liability coverage through the Police Benevolence Association (PBA) or the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), or at least have the option to purchase it. I'm sure it ranges in price from department to department but it's fairly inexpensive and well worth the money.

I couldn't say if it has had any affect on salaries or poor judgement by LEO's but I'd wager that, if it has, it's little to none in either direction.

Very interesting concept. Medical providers have to and I can understand why it would be a good idea for LEO to do this as well.

I'm just blown away at how one of the participants was convicted of going to have sex with a 14 year old.
So you have a pedophile, an MMA fighter that's a cop that body slams a guy and kills him and body cameras that get turned off and on at convenient times and they get no punishment or charges filed against them.

It would be expensive and that cost would just be put back on taxpayers in the form of officer salary.

I agree the cop is a POS. I wonder if kids with autism wear the medic alert bracelets? I have a story from my younger days that had an encounter with a diabetic and the cops. I'll have to share it some time.

I think the judge should have some culpability as well. He shouldn't have issued the warrant based on the evidence provided.

President Donald Trump's statement encouraging police officers to be "rough" with people they arrest has drawn criticism in law enforcement circles for sending the wrong message at a time of heightened tensions with the public.

"As a department, we do not and will not tolerate 'rough(ing)' up prisoners," the Suffolk County Police Department said in a statement.

Now having said this, the police reaction is comical. Since when has LEO taken a stand against police violence until Trump gave them a verbal greenlight yesterday?
