To all who are not TT fans...I have a read for you!

Mike Nifong would like a lot of his accusations back. I've become more and more uneasy with how speculation has become accusation in regards to a good postion coach and our best recruiter. Question his lack of experience for the OC job if you like, there's certainly merit there, but some of this other stuff is becoming quite foul and I have no idea what the man has actually, demonstrably done to deserve it.

I share your concerns, and totall agree, but I do wonder how much of this situation is reality, and how much is speculation gone wild on this board. Some posts appear to have substance, others are totally off the wall.

I agree there is too much information, speculation and innuendos.... 3 or 4 points that are fact that concern me are as follows:

Austin Rogers -- Out spoken ness...

Fulmer and Taylor meeting.... Did it occur or not... Both deny it now.. but above and other sources stated it was to happen monday... if it did why deny if it didn't then why no comment.

Foster going to the NFL... this is a power move and a power play....A Paige Transfering another Power Move and Play...

The Texas Job Offer Imaginary or Not... Not a very honest thing to do with your Employer....

Coaches come and Go... Did Cut, Cut and Run...

Is their Turmoil in this organization... At times this year It definitely appeared so and I am not talking about the loses I am talking about the whole body of work.... There is friction we are not privy too and this maybe the tip of the Iceberg...

That still leaves some gray.

"I want a $10,000 raise or you can shove this place."

and

"I have been approached by other parties that are prepared to compensate me with higher position/pay than I currently have here. I appreciate the opportunity you've given me but I have to look out for myself and my family's interests. I would love to stay on here but if you are simply not in a postion to match the offers I've received I may have to move on."

The "threat" is exactly the same, this or else. I think we'd agree the presentation is not even close.

Change may to will; add a timetable and you've got an ultimatum. This discussion is becoming a waste of time.

The point is, if Trooper gave Fulmer an ultimatum, however it was stated (with concision, lengthy irrelevant prose, with whatever tone, through an agent, etc.), Trooper should go. Period.

I don't see where you are coming from....

I could see Letting him OC the bowl game but not a condition of hire...

I for one do not believe TT could stay here if he or we wanted him too... This mess alone is enough to cut your loses... Fans here will be debating and questioning his hire as OC next year... Meanwhile, TT will continue to stroke and buddy up with these players until it becomes his team... There is one head coach at UT right now... TT is building an open divide in their loyalty between Fulmer, The University of Tennessee and himself... As good as he is he is building an undercurrent within the Organization that will destroy it if not approached correctly.....

Right now there is so much Confusion and Craziness within the Staff and players all rumors and inuendos that there is enough blame for all to Share... MH included...

We have access to too much information but they could have controlled it better.... Austin Rodgers comments do not matter but he was allow to say it... Mistake by the Vols Media Department...

Did Fulmer and Taylor Talk... Right now I see no win win situation for anybody involved in this... The Players, the staff, the coaches, the AD... It has gotten way out of hand...I do know for sure the Players should not have been brought into the marriage counselling of divorce...

Hire Taylor as OC then there will be resentment... Let him go then there will be resentment.... Forced hire then war and coup. Forced Fire then resentment and possible shut down but resentment will always be there...

TT owes it to his employer the university of Tennessee to tell all what he wants why he wants it what he has done to earn it and what he is willing to do to get it... He also needs to explain why he is qualified to be an OC at UT... Just like the standards that will apply to the other eligible coaches being considered for the OC Job.....

I see a lot of overreaction in there based on assumptions, and as you put it, "rumors and inuendos".

Your last paragraph makes sense. But this is done at least annually and sometimes multiple times every year with every coach during one-on-one career meetings with CPF. All of that is on the table already.

I'm not suggesting that once he's made a decision that he shouldn't talk to the players, but he hadn't even met with CF to discuss it and he decides to run it past Austin Rogers first, seriously, you think that's the way a responsible coach should conduct himself?

he addressed an issue with his players. one of those players was asked about the situation. he answered.

that's all that happened. quabble over the reaction of the players, fine, but this truly is getting ridiculous.

Why the Rogers thing??? Why involve him? Why bring it to any Players? Via Text msg.... I do not think he can be an effective Coach with these Players because he is more of a Buddy, Pal and friend to them than as it seems a Coach... This kinda Stuff happens in the environment and I understand. Ron Zook got to close to his players and not only did he get Fired but FL Football suffered for it....

My point exactly...Austin's quote should've looked something like, "We don't know what's going on, we're gettin ready for Wisconsin. There should have been no player reaction at all. Trooper opened up the door when he didn't have to do so.

Was Trooper trying to communicate to Fulmer through Rogers via the media?

Believe what you want. That meeting did not occur because they did not want to give the Earlier Austin Rogers comments any legs as a credible story with Legs...

"as it seems" - that about covers it.

You're just reading too much into it. It's really no big deal.

If he was then he does not need to be the OC... If I have to use a third party (a player) to talk to my boss then we have a problem... and to involve a player to do it then I have a problem. I would talk to the Media myself after going to CPF....

Are you insinuating that trooper will be to blame if we have a poor bowl performance?

Hey man, I wasn't tying to be combative. Just trying to point out that if someone, anyone, has an offer to improve their status in their profession outside of their current place of employment one of two things is going to happen:

They sit tight and hope something good happens where they're at.

They go to their current employer and explain the situation. The employer thinks they are worth the upgrade or they tell them it's in their best interests to pursue the other opportunity.

I mean, right now, as I type this, if I was contacted by someone offering a huge pay increase but the position is only open for another week, what possible choice would I have but to make an "ultimatum" to my current employer? We're great friends and he'd tell me I'd be an idiot not to take the other job and we'd still golf together. See how just the connotations of the word "ultimatum" lends itself to being viewed negatively regardless of how it actually goes down?

I agree with you though, especially if Okie St has an OC job for him. He should be gone, but only because he's got a better offer. (I'm assuming he's not our next OC when I say that)

No TXVOL07, I'm saying Troop had no buisness saying anything regarding his future employment to the players BEFORE he had discussions with CF and before anything has been decided. That said, this situation can't HELP bowl preparations.

Fulmer sends Troop in on all the top recruits, he's the only one that can relate to them. You think "Chief" or Adkins could woo a guy to UT, maybe one or two but not near as many as Troop.

I'd be willing to bet Troop has lured more top notch recruits in the last 3 yrs than Chavis has the last 15.

We can't lose Troop - trust me on this Phil would already be out-of-a job if he hadn't hired Troop back in '04. Troop said "the discipline was bad when he arrived that he sit down w/ Fulmer and said we have got to change this". The kids are doing it to themselves.

If you've ever heard Taylor at a guest speech or talked personaly to him for longer than five minutes then you're an instant fan. The guy has a true blessed gift, I've met alot of UT coaches over the years and NONE have even came close to impressing me more than CTT.

He is very quick witted and can down on the teen's level. He is very upfront and honest w/ the recruits and their families, that's a big reason for his success. In his own words he "never, downs another school nor even discusses w/ any recruit" his words are "there not getting any advertising on his time". He don't wear suits in kids homes, he wear regular UT gear, he wants to come across as real a person as possible. He tells other recruiters as there walking out of homes / mtgs w/ kids (if there in a suit) then he is up 7.

For those that know him want him to stay. Ask the players who there favorite coach is - I'd bet 80% or more say him.
