I have to respectfully disagree here. Tutt is a 4 star and definitely, at a glance, has a higher chance of being elite than any of these 3, esp Luke Thompson. So for once I have to side with the worrywarts and say that missing on him would be pretty unfortunate. Not going to doom over it, it is what it is, but I think discounting it like this is not the way to go.Who cares? If he weren’t instate we’d write him off as just another S on the board where we’ve already got KJ McClain, Luke Thompson and likely Jowell Combay.
Hard to argue with 7 commits in two weeks. I havent looked at the data but it feels like we arent hitting on the upper crust blue chips, esp on offense. I like the 'high upside' guys we have, but do we have too many?I have to respectfully disagree here. What about Tutt? Staff has been after him for a long, long time. Safety, DL, WR, and to a lesser extent RB recruiting continue to be less than impressive.
That said, class has a good base. Lets close on some of these upper tier prospects.

@Jackcrevol is consistently negative in thread after thread.5* QB Brandon #1 player in the country on 247
5* OT Osenda #19 player in the country on 247
5* WR King #29 player in the country on Rivals
And we still have 2 5* guys we have a solid shot with (Gray and Hitter) at guard and RB
Not really, he just doesn’t like Martinez or Pope.@Jackcrevol is consistently negative in thread after thread.
...and it's a program-defining defeat for any recruit that we lose, while all our commits are just okay. Also, all returning sophomores or redshirt freshman are busts because they didn't set the world on fire during their first year on campus. @Jackcrevol and several others have a well established agenda. Not really, he just doesn’t like Martinez or Pope.
It's no more an agenda that the relentless sunshine is. People just look at things differently. I think it's ok to ask why we're not prioritizing the high ranked in-state talent at DB. If we can find a sweet spot somewhere between that and trying to run Shayne off for bringing info about Elarbee's recruiting some didn't like, that would be ideal....and it's a program-defining defeat for any recruit that we lose, while all our commits are just okay. None of the guys you mentioned are in Tutt’s league. Tutt is very good, instate or not. I’d much rather have him than KJ McClain. Combay is the only one of those close to being as good as Tutt.Who cares? If he weren’t instate we’d write him off as just another S on the board where we’ve already got KJ McClain, Luke Thompson and likely Jowell Combay.
Pope I’m happy with recruiting but the play dropped off. WM has earned some leeway with the turnaround of that room I don’t think you’re giving him. But I don’t think you’re consistently negative about most recruits. If you knew that recruiting more developmental DBs was an overall staff strategy would it change your opinion on WM?This. They've been sub par since day 1.
We don't, but your original response on the matter plainly stated that we shouldn't care about what Tutt does because we already have McClain, Thompson, and maybe Combay. That seems to imply that you think they're, at worst, suitable replacements who are as good.Respectfully, how do you (or I, or anyone else that’s not a professional scout/coach) know that?
Not really. but if that's the case it's saving $. id like to see us get top 50 type skill players on offense. Let/ get em.Pope I’m happy with recruiting but the play dropped off. But yet the scouts literally don’t have Combay rated very well either! So did they just not watch the same film that you are? I mean Combay is 46th, McClain is 54th and they are the exact same 88 score. And in position rankings there isn’t much difference between those 2 spots.Watch film of them. If you think any of those guys (with the possible exception of Combay) are as good as Tutt, then I can’t help you.
And a professional coach or scout would agree.
