Emmitt Smith was 5’9”, and it didn’t seem to hold him back too much. Being short can actually help a running back. Short RB’s can be harder to spot behind the blockers.I ve asked around……small schools (FCS) have looked, but nothing yet.
I saw him a couple weeks ago and he was the best player on the field. Period.
5’8”?????
I’m not knocking it….just standing by him, not sure he’s 5’8”……Emmitt Smith was 5’9”, and it didn’t seem to hold him back too much. Being short can actually help a running back. Short RB’s can be harder to spot behind the blockers.
It use to be in Cookeville and Murfreesboro but during covid chattanooga was the only place that would let them do it.My thoughts after returning home from the game:
1. Congrats to Baylor on the win. They are a fantastic football team.
2. I’ve seen DGG twice in person and he is clearly the best HS running back I’ve ever seen in person. (Watching since the late 80’s) It felt like we kept him bottled up most of the night and he still had over 150 yards rushing. Absolute stud, we need him on the hill!
3. Do better TSSAA. What a dump of a facility and location for a state championship event. All state events should be held in Middle TN where travel is more centralized and teams don’t have to wait on busses half a mile up the street just to get into the stadium. Watching coaches and players walking around the block to stretch their legs is ridiculous. Hopefully the new titans stadium presents a permanent fix.
I remember all the venues. Vandy, MTSU, TTU and UTC. I enjoyed MTSU the best. I absolutely hated having to go to tech. UTC wasn’t the only place during Covid they are the ones who won the bid to host the state championships. I am also not a fan of the teams Not being right there in locker rooms but the stadium is hands down better than tech. Unless the titans management wins the big it will not be held there. I also agree on MTSU being the most centralized location for the gamesIt use to be in Cookeville and Murfreesboro but during covid chattanooga was the only place that would let them do it.
Exception, not the rule. There's only been maybe 4 or so QBs over the last 30-40 years that have been successful as a short qb. And the term "successful" is a broad term. Brees and Wilson have had the most success. Kyler Murray has been ok. Baker Mayfield is on the shorter side as well. I can't really think of any others that have been short and successful. Maybe Mike Vick, though I don't know that I would call him "successful." He certainly wasn't awful though, even before the dog fighting stuff.Brees did pretty well.
