'22 TN QB Ty Simpson (Alabama commit)

If you cant compete on the recruiting trail, you dang sure cant compete on the field.
Well Butch and Cornbread recruited just fine and couldn’t win ****. Maybe a coach with some actual head coaching accomplishments will be a little different.

I hate the mightier than thou tweets saying don’t hate Ty. Stfu I’ll dislike him all I want as he is a Bama boy now. He could have believed in himself enough to go to TN still so yeah it was his choice. He decided to run from it despite a better offensive system. He knew what was coming. People shouldn’t tweet him or nothing but I wish him many years of failure and riding the bench watching Sam Horn throw 40 Tds

some of y’all have asked me when I knew on Ty..well I knew for sure last night when the kid and Jason went dark. I was told last week Jason had passed on to some people that TN was out and I pushed them on it to which they told me they weren’t. I took Jason at face value like i do most people because I like to see the good. But that is why I never said it was going to be TN because part of me didn’t trust the situation. In the same breath, I just wasn’t sure he would pull away from several close people in his life that are diehard Vols. Ty is quoted saying he made his decision on multiple dates. That’s not a good look for him but he was allowed to do lots of interviews and led people in Martin and others on about Tennessee’s chances just like doing the radio show in Martin last Saturday. If he truly knew in early February then he led lots of people on and not just TN and myself. I’m told Clemson was hot at the phone call they received 20 min before and followed by the February 1st quote. I’ve seen the typical I got played stuff but show me where I said TN was the choice and I’ll gladly accept that notion. I believed he was going to give Heupel a chance because Jason promised whoever TN hired would be given a shot...and the fact he spoke to him each day backed that up but that quote to chad clearly says otherwise. I’ve watched people predict Clemson and then flip it to Bama. All of the Bama stuff didn’t come in until the last 12-24 hours. It is what it is...on to the next. Hope to zoom with Sam Horn tonight after his baseball game. Anything you want me to ask?

The guys at VQ know way more than they ever make public.

This really isn’t much of a loss. It would’ve helped the recruiting rankings but that’s it. We got 2 std QBs both of whom were much more accomplished as high school QBs than Simpson. And are already on campus. I’d love to have this kid but can’t blame him at all. He’ll likely have to wait a few years to get to play at bama. But if he ever gets a chance to play he’ll almost certainly be playing for a top 5 team and be in the national championship hunt.

Really? Heupel proclaims locking down the state of Tennessee, which truly should be a priority for the 22 class and future years of Tennessee football under heupels tenure. We’ve got til December to change his mind, but it’s a big loss for this class to not get ty simpson. trevor Lawrence all over again, but i would venture to say worse as ty had more reasons to go to it than TL did, and we are unlikely to perform on the recruiting trail with heupels lock down the state method unless we can get all the top guys on board. We should all prepare to miss out on Walter Nolen as well.

Not suprising he led people on. Even when kid was a TN lean i had coworkers that watched him play basketball that said he seemed like a ass clown in the court. I hoped otherwise since I wanted him but guess they were right.Probably mad daddy lost his QB job Pruitt promised

I can tell you the area where he lives is every bit as much Vols fans as Knoxville. Most everyone in rural NW Tennessee grows up rabid Big Orange fans. This is definitely not a popular decision in and around the Martin area.

I had thought this was the case but with UTM right in town I was not sure. Thanks for the clarification.

Were there really some of you in here who thought he wasn't committing to Bama today? I say this not because I'm mad and think we'll never be good again. I say it because it's just another stain from the Pruitt regime that it's best to move on from. I'm not saying he will be better, but I am very ready to pursue Sam Horn and will welcome him with open arms if he commits.

Wonder if Ty finds some way to opt out this season to preserve his health and status? Read several running for his life accounts and did not know if his line got better or worse. Also thought announcing this early was to make the season moot. Just passed through my head.
