'26 TN QB Jared Curtis (Vanderbilt commit)

Guess he sees the writing on the wall for Kirby. Georgia will never beat Alabama. Only won by 1 score against Tennessee (worst team in football), Ole Miss (even their coach knows they suck), Florida (lol), and Georgia Tech (little brother). Clearly not an elite coach and has reached his ceiling.

Why? It is a hit or miss lately with these 5* QB's out of high school - mostly misses.
Well, to be blunt, they apparently have folks who know a talented QB when they see one. They identified and brought in Pavia and his OC. We went for Nico and his family. Before that it was overthrow Joe. Not a sterling track record for our staff. Add to that the fact that after seeing and being around Hooker, they decided to replace him with Joe. Not a lot of confidence in our staff at the moment.

The challenge for anyone who goes to Vanderbilt isn't their individual talent. It's the talent of the other 80 guys around them. Could this dude be another Pavia? I don't know. It's always possible. But the odds are against it. The odds are against Vandy pulling the rabbit out of their commode hole twice in a row. Last time they transplanted an entire staff from New Mexico State to do that, and all that fifth-year-senior familiarity they've ridden on this year will be gone next year. And I were you, dear reader, I wouldn't worry too much about what will come after.

But there's a difference. They didn't recruit Pavia out of HS. They identified him in the portal and went and got him plus his OC to run the offense he was good with. Pavia was there for the taking. Vandys staff pulled it off. Can't imagine Heupel doing anything remotely like that.

It is curious how UGA seems to have no problem at all getting elite talent everywhere but the qb position. Y'all really lucked up having Stetson Bennet when you did.
That’s fair. Some of it is NIL priority: we have historically prioritized linemen and defense and played a developmental game at QB. Beck sat before he started, as did Stockton. Both were high four-star guys as I recall (not chopped liver, at least) but you’re right that the highest tier guys aren’t signing.

There’s a rumor that Vandy is paying big for Curtis—more than UGA would pay. If that’s true (and I really don’t know), it fits with a narrative that teams wanting to make a big move prioritize spending at QB—he touches the ball every play, after all. UGA spreads the money around more, and that might make it harder to land the guys at the very top of the rankings.

It’s obvious by now. Smart will never win anything in Athens.

Of course you can’t 🙄

Dude, Emory University will fudge the admissions requirements for Div III baseball players. Why should Vandy not do this for D1 football recruits? It doesn’t impact their academic reputation one bit. Ask Stanford, or Georgia Tech, or Michigan. Hell, Bama’s general admissions requirements and law school rankings both went up during their recent rise to football prominence. The only thing I don’t understand is why Vandy held the line as long as they did. 🤷‍♂️

Almost surely still lands at Candy but lol at the graphics guy stealing his thunder

Yup. I think he wanted to tell the UGA coaching staff himself and got scooped. He’s a standup guy doing this the right way. Well, he’s a standup guy for a two-time commitment flipper, but the point remains.

I also heard that they are making exceptions to the high academic requirements for football players, so they can now get players that wouldn’t traditionally be eligible for admission at Vanderbilt.
They’ve never had high academic requirements for athletes. Google John Jenkins.. star basketball play from 10-15 years ago.
