Graham Simpson, Westview, QB - ON3
No offer from Tennessee yet but as probably the top HS freshman QB in the country, I'm sure he's on our radar. Younger brother of Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson and the son of Tennessee-Martin head coach Jason Simpson. Ole Miss offered him after a "spectacular showing" at their Friday Night Lights event in June.
Simpson's put up huge numbers this year but especially mind-boggling for a 15-year-old, completing 77% of his passes for 2,752 yards and 43 TDs with no INTs. Last night, he broke the TSSAA record for passing yards with 620 (and 8 TDs) against previously undefeated Covington.
Watch Graham Simpson break TSSAA record for passing yards, Westview beat Covington, 59-54
Yep, he just ran into a machine that is Alcoa. As far as his dad not appreciating running up the score, they did the same to Dresden, Obion County, Scott’s Hill, Liberty and a few other schools they played this year. So he doesn’t have room to talkKid has looked scary good for a Fr QB IN THE CHAMPIONSHIP game vs Alcoa.
Just to clarify, his dad is the UTM coach, not the Westview High School coach. Also, Westview was unreal this year, which should show even more how talented Alcoa is. The game against Scotts Hill as an example that Westview won 70-7 was called at halftime due to inclement weather. Westview scored 70 points in the first half, 49 in the first quarter. This kid is unbelievably talented, and he also had some good receivers as well. And Dresden deserves any whooping that comes their way.Yep, he just ran into a machine that is Alcoa. 70 points in a half my goodness. But there’s always a bigger fish, sometimes wearing silver and maroon…Just to clarify, his dad is the UTM coach, not the Westview High School coach. Failzon Brandon on the way in 26.against Alcoa yesterday and was very impressed. His style of play reminds me a lot of Baker Mayfield. It will be interesting to see how he progresses and what interest TN shows in him and Vice versa.
Another young QB that is most impressive is the Newman kid from Sevier County. only a sophomor, but man, does that kid have on the field maturity of a QB heading to college.
