Lagway was splitting reps with Mertz before the injury. He played in every game last year. Here's his game log: DJ Lagway 2024 Stats per Game - NCAAF - ESPN

Stop trying to rewrite history. The Florida fans were calling for heads to start the year last season and wanted to roll full time with the young guy. The injury only hastened what was eventually going to happen if the team continued to struggle.

With regard to Nico he was the start of the NIL madness. As more and more players are now getting huge NIL deals patience is running thin. You'll see these top tier 5-stars get treated like 1st round picks now. Sure there will be rare situations like Patrick Mahomes sitting out his entire rookie year because Alex Smith is a competent starter. But most 1st round QBs start right away now. Same thing will happen in college. Expect guys like Bryce Underwood to be the norm going forward. Your top tier 5-star QBs will either start right away or at the first signs of struggle the fanbase will call for them to start.

Don't be surprised if Bama fans are calling for Keelon Russell to start if Ty Simpson isn't great off the bat.

So Lagway only started bc Mertz got injured yet you claim I’m the one trying rewrite history.

And def, Lagway was gonna start bc we all know fans make the personnel decisions.

You addressed Nico. What about every QB ranked 3-10 in the 247 composite that sat behind an older QB last year?

Get out of here with this cartoon character post.

Lagway played in every game. There was no redshirt to protect. He was gonna eventually start with or without Mertz injury. And if you don’t think fan pressure effects coaches on the hot seat them you don't know football. Especially when the boosters are thinking like the fans (which is common).

I'm talking about the top tier QB prospects just like high 1st round QBs in the NFL draft. The QBs ranked as composite 4-stars are the equivalent of mid-round NFL picks. They're not necessarily in high demand like the high 5-stars.

My argument is the guys who teams bid for like Bryce Underwood are not sitting for 2 years (or even one anymore). The mid-level QBs who aren't being paid as much will sit because there isn't as much monetary investment in them. The more money a team spends on a player the earlier he will be playing.

Arch is an outlier because of his family. They're also saying he will stay all 4 years even if he's projected to be the #1 pick in next years draft.

Dante Moore switched schools after starting several games as a true freshman at UCLA. So that wasn't a true 2 years as a backup. Also people weren't impressed by his freshman year so him sitting at Oregon was just as likely because he simply wasn't good enough than it being by design.

Most top QB recruits are now playing right away. Last year both Dylan Raiola and DJ Lagway started most of the year. And this year Bryce Underwood is projected to start game 1. Also it's not crazy to think Faizon Brandon is the favorite to start for us in 2026.

Guys are getting paid too much to sit for 1 year anymore let alone 2.
The guys you named were the #1 QB recruit in their respective clssses, though. Not merely 5*s.

Well that's who I'm talking about. The absolute top of the position group each year. Just like how 1st round QBs start right away.

Its all about money now. If you're getting paid top dollar then you'll be expected to provide an immediate return on that investment.

The topic of this thread is Andre Adams. You said, "if he shoots up the rankings."

Andre Adams is not going to be the #1 ranked QB in America.

Those guys were consensus 5 stars though. Adams isn’t that, and there are plenty of QBs his caliber that will have no other choice but to sit for a year or two. Unless they go to a big 12/ACC school or a bottom tier Big 10/SEC school

Andre Adams had a TSSAA record-breaking night on Sept. 19 to help keep Antioch undefeated at 5-0. Adams, a junior, was 19-of-27 passing for 507 yards with four TDs in a 54-40 win over Centennial. He also had 207 yards and two rushing TDs on 18 carries.

His 714 total yards (which was checked and double checked by Antioch's coaches) broke the TSSAA record set in 2013 by Upperman's Connor York...

Geez.
I’ve never seen QB throw for 500 and run for 200
In the same game. The fighting LaMarcus Coker’s have something going up there!

He did this against Centennial out of Franklin. Their head coach is Jay Graham.
Yep solid team that has been pretty good lately. Adams has gotten a lot bigger, cleaned up some things, and just better in general and looks like a stud. Haven't watched him in-person this year but saw him in the spring at UA Nashville event and he looked amazing

Haven’t heard much recently about him as a recruit with Tennessee, but I hope he’s a priority. He would be a perfect addition as the QB in this class.

Who do you like more - Adams or Israel Abrams?

Good question. I just watched Abrams highlights for the first time. His mechanics are pretty rough but has a cannon. With his mechanics, he's going to have to sit anywhere regardless which would be good news for a school in a situation like Tennessee if they feel they have good QB coaching (they do). I really like Adams and he's more instant impact but Abrams probably has more raw arm talent. If I had the power to choose for Tennessee, I would be taking whoever wanted to join class first and be content

Are you talking about Antioch or Centennial?

You guys should review our high school scores and rankings thread that a few of us update each week.

Centennial is not a solid team. They have 1 win and 3 losses. You might label them as bad. However, given the other teams Antioch has faced this year they might be one of the better ones.

Antioch is 5-0. They have faced 3 teams that are winless and a combined 0-14. The other two teams are 1-4 and 1-3. The total combined record of the teams they've played are 2 wins and 21 losses.

Their district is easily as terrible unfortunately.
