'27 TN QB Andre Adams

Tennessee has yet to offer, but he could end up being a guy they push for. Just hard to convince a big time QB who will be catered to in the process to follow a guy that was #1 overall for a lot of the process. He's taken a huge step this offseason and looks taller, more built, and cleaned up mechanics. Should be in store for a strong season. Saw him workout at UA Nashville and he killed it. Stood out the most for the present (Ty Snell was arguably right behind but naturally had to adjust to speed of talent).

He ran a 53 seconds in the 400 meter this season as a sophomore. Not bad at all.
Should be able to get believe 50 seconds next season.

Would make a lot of sense.
The 27 QB we take needs to be a guy that’s ok with sitting 2 years or is a good runner that could be used in packages that doesn’t draw a high NIL demand that has some upside as a starter one day, but isn’t going to leave us without portal options if Faizon and George both somehow don’t pan out. He fits that bill for sure

I have no idea if this kid grew up a Vol fan, but if he is, maybe he’d be more willing to be that guy who bides his time.

Ideally we start to see some better development at the QB position by the time this kid finishes HS and he’s ok with sitting for 2 years because he knows when his time comes he’s going to be in an elite offense and will end up an NFL draft pick

Pretty throws. Plays in my neck of the woods, but I haven't seen him play. He must be a reason Antioch won more games the past season than they have in a long time. He does play in probably the worst district in 6A in the state though but the athleticism should translate regardless of who you play for. I would also tend to think he's probably not getting the best coaching compared to other top high school programs in the area.

Hope he transfers to Oakland

If this kid goes up the rankings there's zero chance he sits for 2 years.

Why? Arch and Dante Moore both did it. “Sitting” also doesn’t mean he’s going to do nothing for his first 2 years. He could easily be used in running packages or even as an athlete similar to James Banks till his time comes as a QB. Not every kid nowadays is focused first and foremost on getting a nice bag for a few years. Some kids want to get 10 year deals in the NFL and make real money, and if we’ve done well enough at that position over the next 2 seasons he may be willing to sit to play for the hometown team in an elite offense that can get him to the league

Arch is an outlier because of his family. They're also saying he will stay all 4 years even if he's projected to be the #1 pick in next years draft.

Dante Moore switched schools after starting several games as a true freshman at UCLA. So that wasn't a true 2 years as a backup. Also people weren't impressed by his freshman year so him sitting at Oregon was just as likely because he simply wasn't good enough than it being by design.

Most top QB recruits are now playing right away. Last year both Dylan Raiola and DJ Lagway started most of the year. And this year Bryce Underwood is projected to start game 1. Also it's not crazy to think Faizon Brandon is the favorite to start for us in 2026.

Guys are getting paid too much to sit for 1 year anymore let alone 2.

Lagway only started bc Mertz got hurt and every other QB ranked 3-10 also were not starters. Nico was ranked high and sat behind Joe for a year.

Lagway was splitting reps with Mertz before the injury. He played in every game last year. Here's his game log: DJ Lagway 2024 Stats per Game - NCAAF - ESPN

Stop trying to rewrite history. The Florida fans were calling for heads to start the year last season and wanted to roll full time with the young guy. The injury only hastened what was eventually going to happen if the team continued to struggle.

With regard to Nico he was the start of the NIL madness. As more and more players are now getting huge NIL deals patience is running thin. You'll see these top tier 5-stars get treated like 1st round picks now. Sure there will be rare situations like Patrick Mahomes sitting out his entire rookie year because Alex Smith is a competent starter. But most 1st round QBs start right away now. Same thing will happen in college. Expect guys like Bryce Underwood to be the norm going forward. Your top tier 5-star QBs will either start right away or at the first signs of struggle the fanbase will call for them to start.

Don't be surprised if Bama fans are calling for Keelon Russell to start if Ty Simpson isn't great off the bat.
