I am sure Cade told Phil what would keep him here, but Phil went a direction he felt was best for the program as a whole. Nothing wrong with that and most likely a great decision. Again I don’t know what Cade told Phil in their meeting but I can only assume he let Phil know the 2 names that would have kept him here. I support Cade 100% for wanting to go to a program that has stability. I’m hoping for Clemson over Georgia at this point but I am not sure which he’ll decide on”

I'm sure they will but Clemson is the most complete team of the 4. Far fewer weaknesses than the other 3. Clemson could beat Ala, GA and Okl on a neutral field more times than not.

I’m calling bs on this. Something happened (other than butch getting fired) that soured him on us. Fulmer getting named AD should be a clearing of the clouds so to speak for the future of our program. And last time I checked he knows what it takes to win a championship. Les can’t get an interview anywhere and Gruden hasn’t proven a thing in CFB. Any sensible person knows these things. He can go where he chooses and that’s fine. He owes no one an explanation. Maybe he’s just not a fan and that’s ok too.

I believe that was his ‘out’. He had a really good idea those two weren’t coming here.

I believe I remember reading he and his brother want to play together. If his brother likes Clemson, that, along with Rogers badmouthing the program, has probably sealed the deal awhile back. The rest was just the excuse.

On to the next.

but we'll find out soon enough. BAMA is more talented across the board-bigger, stronger, deeper & faster. I think Clemson loses by 10+pts.

If he's truly been a lifelong TN fan why not go ahead and recommit & join Alontae when he does? He wanted an honest coach, he got one...

Cade is gone. Highly doubt we can swing him back if he signs on the 20th as he says he will. If he doesn’t, then maybe we got our foot back in the door. Just don’t see it happening. Butch has undermined us behind close doors with him imo.

I have nothing against the Mays kid. He can go to whatever school he wants but I always remember what the great Texas coach Darryl Royal said about recruiting instate kids.... He would go pay one visit to a aTexas kid and if he didn’t commit then he didn’t want him.

He was convicted to visit Clemson, and loved it. He bonded well with the team and the family atmosphere. He also got to know Dabo who can sell ice to Eskimo’s. Dabo can only take 14 to 15 signees this year. They have like 20 to 25 five / four stars that want in. Dabo promised one of only 2 spots he has left to Cade. Cade silently committed to Dabo a month ago. Also, Cade became great friends with the class they have committed, especially with Trevor Lawrence. Trevor is hyped to be the next Peyton Manning. Once in a life time college QB. On top of that you have Tee Higgins and Amari Rogers with the East TN connections telling him Clemson is just amazing. Add in that they won the Natty last, and they are the #1 seed this year. Also, one of the offensive Tackles might turn Pro this year, and Cade was told he has a change to start for the Top rated College team in the country. Cade gave Dabo is word, and it does not matter who TN hired, he is going to Clemson. Thanks a lot Butch."

I am in the same camp, something just isnt right. So Mays wants to win championships. Yet he had to see that UT under Butch had zero chance of doing that. Either he is a complete moron, or something is fishy.

We needed to hang on to Cade and it sucks to lose another back yard 5* to Clemson.

But he's at least going about his recruitment well. Can't blame him right now for going to Clemson. The timing was just terrible to keep him on board.

I'm glad we have Pruitt at the moment, but hindsight being 20/20 Butch probably should have been fired after 2015 or 2016 for us to have a shot with guys like Cade or Tee.

To be fair, Cade committed prior to the 2015 season. And the national narrative around Butch Jones until about the USCe game in 2016 was that he had us knocking on the door of being "back."

Watching the playoffs last year, I saw Clemson players butt and nut grabbing. Doesn't seem that amazing to me.

Lol... he’s one kid who has pushed around a bunch of 185 lbs High school kids. He has proven nothing on the college level and we act like the sky is falling. Best of luck Cade.... move one to someone who wants to be here! Aight!!!
