'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

If true, that’s pretty dang impressive to be committing NCAA violations before even being named coach.

No way that’s a violation. It’s one guy calling another guy. Gruden isn’t employed by TN yet, so don’t see how it would be a violation.

Why would our HC be a booster, too? 😏

Lol, well as your pointed out, he isn't officially our HC, ....yet. 🙄

Ncaa will probably go after us with both barrels . Chargers, suits , and straight up cash are nothing to see here. Gruden talking to a recruit before he is the coach undermines the integrity of the game.

He can't do that?

No, anyone that has given any money to the school albeit tickets, donations, charity, charity coaching, etc are considered by the NCAA as a booster or ‘friend’ of the program.

Second, if not hired, it would be a violation for him to contact future recruits before he is the coach.

Third, if he did, before Jones was fired, in lieu of the coach, Tn is in breach of Butch’s contract. Same for those saying Gruden had already signed a deal before Butch was fired, Tn isn’t stupid.

I told them this and that he told this to CPF and his dad months ago. The micro manager who doesn't allow others to do their job has lost all control that was already bad last year. But no I had no clue and was the bad guy. OL coaching has been atrocious it's not talent it's the stupid scheme and wanting guys to multi task. I was always told learn to be great at one job before trying to learn multiple roles. You can't move interior guys to OT if they don't have the feet to do it. Like the old saying can't force a square peg in a round hole. From Coleman Thomas to Trey Smith they're not OTs and they get the Qbs killed and Rbs blown up. Really dumb to say the least and coaching malpractice.

Maybe if you were just a little more literate? :pinch:

It's not until the second he gets hired and then it becomes a violation retroactively.

Technically, no booster or friend of the program is supposed to be calling a prospect. Of course, he could always claim previous relationship with the prospect to avoid any violation. But, of course, with the new rule, that would mean Gruden couldn’t be hired by Tn.

In football, during a two-year period before a prospective student-athlete's anticipated enrollment and a two-year period after the prospective student-athlete's actual enrollment, an institution shall not employ (or enter into a contract for future employment with) an individual associated with the prospective student-athlete in any athletics department noncoaching staff position or in a strength and conditioning staff position.

This definition includes, but is not limited to, parents, legal guardians, handlers, personal trainers and coaches. An individual who meets this definition retains such status during the enrollment of the prospective student-athlete at the institution.

Well Gruden is none of those outlined so he can talk to as many recruits as he wants except for those on his son's team who he personally helped coach

Currie called Cade.
Cade wants an honest coach. That was his number one want in a coach. Said he's looking forward to a new direction. Says a big name will be huge and he will give them another chance. He's just waiting for the hire.

Telling that players and recruits are bringing up honesty

Don’t think there is much question that Cade will be looking for a reason to recommit, Tn just has to give it to him.

Does anyone else find it strange that when asked, Kelly and now Mays say they want an honest coach? Makes me think Butch was a liar all along.
