'18 TN OL/DL Cade Mays (Transfer)

His dad would have killed it in the NFL...highly rated draft prospect before the injury. He was a VFL way before we had the term...Clemson has no shot! :aggressive:

We shall see. Duke was at his school in december and clemson and UT might visit with him soon.

Kevin says that he wants his son to visit other schools and experience the recruiting process. But We all know where the boy will end up. Oh, and Cade has a younger brother also. He's a big boy as well.

Nice kid with a good family support behind him and well grounded. Hope he ends up at UT but he's giving Clemson a serious look as well.

It's hard to imagine Butch missing on a legacy player from Knoxville with the way things have been going especially if Tennessee has it turned around on the field which they should by 2018. We could be winning 10 or 11 games by 2017.

Dang hubb's how much money do I owe???? Great to think back of the glory years. I loved being a vol. I took great pride in that orange jersey and the people who wore it before me. I never played for myself. I played for The Lord( because i felt it was a sin to turn my back on the talents and size he blessed me with) my teammates, my family , my hometown of Kingston, and the millions of vol fans around the world. I never played in a game I thought we would lose.
I remember an interview one time a reporter ask me what opponent I hated the most to which I answered "whoever we play next week". I meant it !!!!! Great players never need pregame speeches or bulletin board material. I prepared daily in all facets off the game. Lifting, running, practicing, film work. I took it serious. But most Importantly I never wanted to embarrass myself and get my ass whipped aNd have to face my family, teammates and hometown friends
I didn't win every play or every game but by damn when the ball was snapped I tried to break every player I played against in half. I loved the physical part of the game. Getting to fight 70 times a game every 30-40 seconds was a great thing for me. I was built for it. Cherished it!!!! It kept me from trouble and was a release In life I needed. I still love the game. What a great game football is. Wish I could play one game just like most athletes. My favorite part was the trash talking. If I found one player on defense Who loved to celebrate after every play and talk smack he was mine. I would stalk him like an animal and when I got my chance during the play or after, I made his ass pay!! Then I would tell him about it and try to break him mentally. I got many personal fouls, stopped several drives , and have been cussed out many times for it, but In the end there wasnt a coach or teammate I bled with that didnt love me for it!!!!! I wasn't the best to ever suit up on the hill but I will tell you right now no one ever has or ever will play any harder or with more passion than "ol 67" Kevin Mays did for the vols.

I know it's a long way to go to the end but I want this kid to sign with our VOLS..... He potentially the #1 OL in the country and maybe easily the top player in state for his class. I'd say bearing injury with growth and maturity he's a top 5 player over all in his class. Top notch kid with a top notch family.

After reading that, this kid will bleed orange like his dad. As long as Butch is our coach, you can mark him down as a Vol lock.

One of my favorite Vols of all time.Kevin Mays was a mean sob.He would probably whipped half our olines azz after a few of the games last year.Very very intense individual.

Is visiting this weekend with another big time instate guy. I know they're '18 but it would be HUGE to get these two early and be our recruiters.

I saw the tweet picture posted on the tweets thread today. Baby face and big smile. Until you look at the eyes. It caught my attention right away. I then went and looked at his highlights. Good grief!!! He didn't end his blocks until his opponent was driven flat on his back. Each and every one a pancake!!! This kid is going to be a great one. His eyes send a clear message -- "The last place you want to be is in front of me!!!!!"

Hope we get him. I know he is a vol legacy and loves butch but also likes Clemson as well.

What else can you see in his eyes?

Borderline weird with all the eyes comments.

Just look in his eyes, you can tell he wants it.

Mays was at junior day last weekend.

"Tennessee is all about toughness," Mays said. "The offensive line is all about toughness and smarts. Every time I come here, it blows my mind." "It's a lot like my high school offense," Mays said. "I feel like I'd transition very well. I like the coaches and how they handle everything.

"Ever since I was little, he's wanted me to go out there and punish people," Mays said. "That's what he's instilled in me. I like to play that way and I feel like it makes the best come out in me. Coaches tell me they like my physicality and they like how mean I am on the field. They say I have a mean streak like my dad."

"I feel like we all blended last year and we got to know how we play," Mays said. "We have a lot of starters coming back and I feel like we can win it this year. We just have to stay focused and continue to play as a team. We are working hard and we know what it will take to get to that level."

"I feel like my strength and speed and quickness need to get better," Mays said. "I feel like I stay with my blocks good and I finish my blocks. That's the main things I'm working on.
