Hope we snag him, indeed. If we get to 10 wins recruiting will hit big, if not, I could see a repeat of this years class.
except that just about anything they do in wrestling would be considered holding.
That has zero to do with it. It isn't about the grips and wrestling moves that helps so much with football. It's about body position and leverage, which if you know what you're doing, requires zero hands or holding to accomplish. It's about knowing how to use your body position to gain advantage of your opponent or using your opponent's body position against them to gain leverage and control. That's what makes a good wrestler more than anything. :hi:
The hand fighting aspect of wrestling sure does help with shedding off blocks, but I get what you're saying.

Both agility and athleticism are important but the wrestling aspects of things really help in the trenches. In wrestling you learn grabbing which can help a lot in hand to hand combat that all OL/DL guy hv to possess 2 of tge best I can remember were Fred Weary and Cosey Coleman but there were many more

Scott Wells went undefeated his junior and senior year in high school. He turned out to have a fairly nice career. Wrestling also helps those of smaller stature to take down a larger ball carrier. There's a lot of skills learned in wrestling that translate to the football field.
Wells was rated top heavyweight in the country his senior.
Bradley was a fantastic wrestler in high school. Remember wrestling in that gym and the trophy shrine to Bradly is nice. He could have been an All American and maybe national champ in college.
Just got around to watching this young man's hudl. Very impressive, must get!Would have never happened. Bradley was just bigger and stronger than everyone he wrestled in High school. He just bearbugged someone took them down and put them in a half. Turned them over with superior strength.
In college he would have had to wrestle people who were technically superior to him and almost as strong. Wouldn't have worked out for him.
