Nashville Christian defensive lineman Brant Lawless was one of the first to talk to Hoke and was happy to hear from him. "It's a pretty cool thing," Lawless said. "It's a pretty cool process and makes you want to work harder. It makes you want to put more work in because you are one of the top guys out there. I want to put in more work to be one top guys out there."
"He had a good personality," Lawless said. "He was straight out and reached out and told me I was one of the top guys he is looking at. I'm a priority for him in the class of 2018. I'm excited to build a relationship with him and get to meet him. He was very outgoing and excited. That's always good to see."
Lawless doesn't get caught in the recruiting process. Must like his old teammate, Daniel Bituli, Lawless just stays laid back and refuses to let the hoopla effect him. "I look at it as I was always taught to be humble," Lawless said. "A lot of guys want to be seen and known about, but I just want to play the game and if I get heard about then that's a bonus. If I'm playing good then, I let that work for me."
"When you go to Tennessee you feel like you are at home," Lawless said. "It's always a great feeling to go anywhere that you feel at home. That's how I feel there. All the love and great people that are there. How they are building it and how great it's becoming is real nice and you feel like home when you go down there."
