'20 TN DE Jay Hardy (Auburn commit)

You're right about that which is another reason why I feel it's not over so don't trash the kid
Kid is probably a good kid, family is probably a good family supporting their kid. Still this was handled very poorly by Hardy. Again I don’t have a problem with the decision to go to Auburn. Going out of your way to deceive everyone is just a poor character move.

And just as much is the opposite as well. Young, DE that went to Bama, Walker an so on. I’m not going against OUR coach I’m just stating I don’t believe in silent commits nor do I believe 17-18 yr old kids words UNTIL they publicly announce things. Kids tell coaches/adults what they want to hear all the time.
Okay. There is a signing day in December and February. All you need to keep up with.

He didn't really look happy about it. And neither did his family. That looked very much like a "business" decision. Hate it for the kid.

When you turn on those you’ve lead to believe you were committed to, it can leave you conflicted. A lot of instate players are going to have some words to say about this

I just received a call from a insider and the word is that he was committed to the Vols as of Sunday. Then the big kid from Texas committed and he decided he didn't want to go against him in practice so he got skeered and ran away. Can't say that I blame him.

Prudent. That's a large man.

Kinda disappointed but don’t really even care that much about it. These kids are really just unpredictable. The reason it seems so many of the kids that go to bama (or Clemson) make it has more to do with their program doing a great job of developing and coaching the kids than where they were ranked as recruits. Some of these top 100 kids make it and some don’t. Bama usually gets the no1 ranked class while Clemson’s usually hover right around the top 10 and yet their rosters are really similar. In fact...I’d have to say Clemons has had the best personnel the last few years.
Our best defensive players are Thompson, butile, and To’oto’o. Of those 3 only To’oto’o was a top 100 player. Meanwhile jj Peterson was a top 50 kid and can’t get on the field.

Y'all are speaking from a fans standpoint which I understand how you feel. I don't like when the team I root for don't get certain players also. Auburn legit has one of the best dlines in the country
And this is a realization that the family made in the last 48 hours? Bs man the bag man calleth and his pen was bigger.

Curious as to how this Auburn bagman thing works? If a Family is obviously shopping a player for the highest bid, then is it cash up front or after the player signs? I'm assuming it's a little of both. If so, all it would take is another school's bagman to offer more than the signing bonus to flip the player on signing day. Curious as to how Auburn prevents more signing day flips against them.

Pappoe from last year is a good example. He seemed to be all TN, then one in-home visit from the Auburn coaching staff and pow ... Pappoe is 110% Auburn and shuts it down. Sounds like Family got paid upfront in this case. But why did the Family not keep shopping their son?

One of the best recruiting stories is Eric Dickerson's gold trans-am during the SMU scandal. The story was that A&M made the down payment for the trans-am and Eric committed to A&M. He later signed with SMU and they picked up the car payments so Eric could keep the Trans-Am. What was A&M going to do ... turn SMU in to the NCAA for taking over payments on their bribe?

Seems like the recruits would have all the power to play bagmen against each other. Someone needs to write a book about Auburn's dealings probably after Pat Dye has passed away.

what? Hardy has been tight with the commits for a while. He has been telling them hes joining them for months and months.
I'm just saying I've seen Baron, Mays, Bailey, and even Lawerence at most games going back into last year. I kept looking for Hardy, and I didn't ever notice him sitting there with the rest of them. They always sit together. Lawerence sits close, but I think he brings friends from Nashville with him. I could've honestly missed him, but you would think he would sit with them, or close to him.

We all know there’s money out there. I want to know how much. Does anyone have any insight here. How much does it take to get a guy signed?

I don’t support trashing any recruit. Everyone should respect the process. I wish him the best at whatever school he attends, but he should at least be honest about his intentions. If he had a chance of heart, then hopefully he did the right thing and notified coaches about his decision prior to seeing it on Twitter.

I was also very surprised to not see him with them at the South Carolina game when the tide had obviously changed direction.
