'18 TN DE Emmitt Gooden (Tennessee signee)

I think we sign him on Wednesday if we can't fill out the 8 spots left. Then we find out in the Summer if he can make it in academically.

Coming off his unofficial visit to UT I traded messages with Emmitt Gooden a little while ago. He's not doing any more interviews until he announces his decision. He did say the visit went really well. He also told me he will be signing with a school Wednesday. Will update more on this situation after talking to some different folks.

He's good enough to warrant not signing on Wednesday, but showing up at the end of summer eligible and counting towards next year's class. If he signs and then fails to qualify then TN loses the scholly altogether.

Can't TN only take 22 or 23 in the this class?

Sounds about right. I will be glad to see Wednesday come and finalize this recruiting class. GO VOLS!! :good!:

four-star defensive tackle emmit gooden of independence (kan.) community college wasn’t seriously involved with tennessee a week ago. Academic concerns prevented the vols, florida and other teams from making him a priority, and west virginia appeared to be the favorite to land him. But there now appears to be a realistic chance that gooden could end up in tennessee’s class. The vols’ thinking on gooden changed last week, and his unofficial visit to knoxville over the weekend went well enough that it now looks possible gooden could choose tennessee, the first team to which he committed nearly four years ago at haywood high school in brownsville, tenn.

I know you don't think he qualifies, Mr. NCAA, but my friend Andrew Jackson does, and he's never told a lie.
