Hey Emmit, don't play the 'recruiting game' to hard. The staff, in the end, does what's best for THE PROGRAM.. Would hate to see you lose your seat on the bus..

this thread just went nuclear. i just hope everybody can control themselves enough to keep it classy.

Hey Emmitt,

You need to focus on your studies and stop reading message boards or you may be sitting on the sideline while all your buddies are playing Big Time SEC College ball.

Why do this? I just don't get it..... You have no idea what he or any other recruit is doing.

I've said it several times:

Recruits and parents are looking at fan forums --- a lot. They are evaluating the fan base the same way we evaluate the recruit. If you think otherwise, you are naive and delusional.

Some people on this board believe it's just the occasional MZTERRY. It happens a LOT more than we know. Forum posters and tweeters can help a program or hurt it. Sometimes we do a little of both.

And for the record, I think the coaches (or their staff) read forums to measure the temperature of the fans and head off any potential stupid interaction with recruits and parents. This particular staff is too tech savvy to think they are sitting on their hands while we run amok.

It makes him feel like a big man to get on a message board and disparage HS kids that are way more athletically gifted than him. It appears he is quite envious of Emmitt, he has been throwing shade with every post. If Emmitt fails, it will make him feel like a tough guy.

Yep. that is it exactly. You're too smart for us.:)

He either decommitted from UT because A) the staff had concerns about grades/something else B) he wanted recruiting attention C) he's actually still privately committed to UT but wanted more attention anyway.

I'm sorry but I'm not sorry. If it's B or even C, then he's getting the attention he wants. And not all of it is going to be positive attention. That's just how it goes. There's also a chance we get a few other DL committed and, in a smaller 2016 class, Gooden shoots himself in the foot all for some recruiting attention (unless it's C and he's still secretly on board).

If he decommitted for A related reasons, then I would feel a little bad about all of the "ego" comments. But my guess is it's B, based on the numerous comments he's made.

Yep. It's grades. We've seen this behavior too many times and it always pans out the same way. Now if he could bust his butt and study hard, he may just have a chance to get admitted but the coaches have so many other options. He is a good player and would love to have him on board but not at the risk of him not qualifying.
